JD2210 subcompact fuel pump failing?

A low pressure pump gets fuel through the filter to supply the high pressure injection pump. That high pressure is why metal lines then go to each injector from the injection pump. The pump guy has good instruction!

Time to start a new post "where to get the best deal on a new fuel pump or repair kit for a Yanmar"

first I connected my marine primer bulb hose kit to the pump and squeezed. As I squeezed the bulb it coughed which is a bit more action than previously. Next I bypassed the FP and connected the bulb hose directly to the fuel manifold. this time it started and ran smoothly as long as I squeezed that bulb. So from this I conclude its the fuel pump. Actually I did not think the pressure of the marine priming bulb would be enough to make it run but I suppose it doesn't take much.

It could be I squeezed the air out the line(s) and now reconnecting the old FP might work again although you have to wonder how air got in the line to begin with.

I hope the defective FP did not leak oil into the crankcase. Probably a good time to change the oil.

Does your engine have a supply pump that feeds the injection pump.??
Or is it gravity fed.. the tank is above the inj pump and the fuel just flows thru the filters and into the injection pump.??
If all it was was air trapped in the lines, (no supply pump) and u pumped it up w the bulb.. u should b good to go now..
Just check it in the morning..

As I see it, the fuel pump that supplies fuel to the injection pump, is part #AM876410.
$150 on Amazon

thank you for that p/n.
I see them listed on ebay for $40.
Now I am thinking that pump is actually a lift pump to get the diesel up to that mechanism above it that is actually the high pressure diesel pump.

I was thinking I'd find a lower price by finding the same engine used for marine applications and my searches led to a discussion group suggesting the marine guys get a better price by looking for the tractor version.
