JD455 Recommended engine heater?

I would like to install an engine heater of some sort and would like to know what might be the best one to install as far as oil, water etc.

IMO for the engine a coolant heater beats an oil heater. Heated coolant is throughout the engine, heated oil is primarily contained in the sump. When you look at engine heaters in larger tractor and trucks it's almost always heating the coolant.
I would also recommend (for cold weather starting) a good synthetic oil that's widely available like Mobil 1 5w30.

A block heater or an inline heater. Either will work well and make your toy - errr tool !! smile as the key is turned.

Where are you located?I only ask since I had a 455 and it started just fine without a heater.

I am located in Mannsville, NY. Recent temperatures were 20+ below zero. My 455 is an unheated pole barn. If the temperature is +10 or above, I normally don't have a problem.

either heater will heat both fluids. I like the block heater but that is me. Either one will work.

I would also check the glow plugs if there is an issue and go to a synthetic oil.

My JD started fine at about -10 and my Kubota bx22 started unaided at approx -18 below. Made some weird noises..as any diesel...
