Kind of interesting that the Romainians could make a smooth operating 3pt hitch on my Allis 5040 in the 70s and Kubota doesn't have it figured out yet.

In Dec of 2010 I bought a new L-2800 with FEL. Quickly found that the 3pt hitch was too jerky to finely adjust the box scraper for fine grading the driveway. My local dealer picked the tractor up twice and had the factory tech work on it at least one of those times. The last time, when I went to see how it was working (before they brought it back to me) I found that it was actually worse than before. Basically I was told that it was a standard tractor and that is the way it was made. After a nice, but direct letter to Kubota, they offered to give me all my money back (every cent) and I could buy a tractor of another manufacturer, another one by Kubota, or keep the L-2800 as it was. I opted to get a B-2630 and I love it. The 3pt hitch is so smooth its unreal. Although I was disappointed with Kubota for continuing to manufacture such a jerky 3pt hitch, I am happy with the way they ultimately handled my deal. A few months ago I took delivery of the B2630. All in all, I owned the L2800 for about 8 months. My dealer, Riddle Tractor, had a hand in it also. They were wonderful to deal with and I would buy from them again.

What I find strange is that some people get the jerky problem fixed, and others don't. Seems like it should be either fixable or not fixable. I'm enjoying my B2630 and wish I had bought it to begin with. Would have saved me, my dealer, and Kubota a lot of time and heartache.

As a result of this thread, I specifically asked my dealer to provide me the opportunity to try my new L3800 HST with BH77 and LA524 at the dealership before taking official delivery. Sure enough, pretty jerky vertical movement on the 3 pt system. This was with using a 60" grader blade attachment; a fairly light weight attachment.

After a discussion with the service manager he told me he wasn't aware of any issues with other L3200 or 3800 owners but has made adjustments to some B series tractors in the past to smooth the vertical 3 pt movement. He felt he knows what the issue could be and will 'make it right.'

I'm pleased, at this point. It was a PITA for the service tech to remove the BH77 and give me the opportunity to check the 3 pt system, but glad we did.

My question is, does the adjustment needed to fix this issue hinder any other capacities or performance of the tractor or hydraulics?

I think it more of a manufacturing problem... in that some may have a problem but not ALL of them are bad. We've ask for videos of non-jerky hitches before but had none shown... that could be because they don't come to TBN since they are playing on their tractors.

Then again, some people may just accept that the jerky tractor IS normal... they just don't know that they *could* be silky smooth.

Lastly, some dealers are much better than others and want their customers to be happy (some going as far as eating the cost).

I asked this question before leaving with my tractor, and was told

"The adjustment made will not effect the lift capacity or the speed of the lift".

I have since then tried both and neither were effected with the adjustment.

That makes 2 of us... their corporate attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

As I understand it, you bought it knowing there was a problem that the dealer would try to fix at a later date?

I hope they are able to fix it, I really do, because if not your faith has been misplaced.

Knowing what I do now, no money of mine would have crossed the table until it was operating smoothly on their lot. I didn't even realize there WAS a problem until I'd had it a while since the 3 point wasn't used much. Then it became a waiting game until the warranty expired, with me complaining about the problem and Kubota denying there was one.

My dealer was willing to approach Kubota to try and resolve it, which I appreciated, however they weren't willing to wear the cost of digging into a problem with zero manufacturer support.

I've got mixed feelings about that as far as the dealer is concerned, but there's no mistaking my attitude when it comes to Kubota's corporate line.

Sean,
I thought I did a boat load of research before I purchased the tractor on 12-30-11 and was obviously satisfied with my choice, unfortunately, I didn't find this forum and discussions about the 3pt issue until the new year's weekend. Of course, the 0% for 60 financing did make is easy to pull the trigger.

I'm hoping for good results and feel confident this dealer will do all it can to satisfy. I've dealt with them for years on other toys, with great satisfaction.

Yeah, had I known beforehand, the trial run would have occurred before I signed the contract.

Sorry if I came across as critical or negative, it just burns my as* when a manufacturer won't admit there's a problem with their equipment, at least not while it's under warranty.

The good news is, if you can get the hitch squared away, the rest of the tractor is outstanding.

I'm guessing you got R4 tires?
