OK, so now here is a big change. The new Kubota BX23S uses the skid skid steer quick attach mechanism for the FEL bucket. So I wonder how that is going to interact with Jery Dunn's front forks.

My question is why the larger extra weight out front on a BX? I have Jery's front/3pt forks with his quick attach piece. Love them. Didn't Kubota have their own quick attach for the BX bucket/loader already? Did they increase loader capacity to allow for the skid steer brackets? Jon

Yes Kubota had their own but is was only for Kubota-bucket, forks, etc. Now with the new skid steer quick hitch, all types of different equipment made by all kinds of manufactures will fit, possibilities are endless. With that said its big and cumbersome unit compared to the Kubota hitch, so now loader capacity is actually lowered. Without the new quickhitch the specs are the same as the Bx25, add the bulky new quickhitch and capacity has been lowered. I think they are moving in the right direction but didnt quite get this one right in my book.

"But didn't ite get this one right in my book"

Also in my book because of the reduced capacity. Is the skid steer bracket on all new BX's? Joon

YUP. According to the Kubota website, if you choose the skid steer QA option for the FEL, the lifting capacity goes down from 739 lbs. to 613 lbs., (both of which are exaggerations anyways in my opinion), which is a drop of some 126 lbs.. On the other hand, I believe the QA that Jery uses will actually increase the lift capacity of the front forks, because the whole mechanism is apparently lighter than the Kubota OEM FEL.

I'm a BIG proponent of Jery's forks AND his quick attach. Although I like the skid-steer concept, I can't figure why I'd give up more capacity. If you look on Kubota's forks, they say max is 300#. To me that's a waste. I can imagine the same forks with the SSQA will be closer to 200#. That's a deal breaker for me. If I trade up to an 80 Series, I'd bet the farm Jery will adapt to the 80's. He knows his set up is better than the OEM, and he provides substantially more capacity than what the OEM will offer.

Does anyone know for sure if the plain BX's, (not the backhoe model) come with the skid steer brackets? Or can you still get the standard pin style bucket? If pin on bucket is available then I think Jery would make his fit. IMHO. Jon

You are not required to buy the SSQA. It's an option on the 80 Series to my knowledge.

Soooo, anybody gonna mention pricing or are you all sworn to secrecy?

Nope... no secrecy but a two year old thread. If you are interested, contact him. I can say it was cheaper than the Kubota option and lighter too. To be honest, I don’t remember what I paid but I’m very happy with it after a couple years of use. Shop around.
