I promised some more pictures of my garden, so I'll post them. Me and my garden are needing all the sympathy we can get.
I was in the garden this morning and remembered I needed to take some pictures but didn't have my camera. I just got a new cellphone with a camera, so I decided to use it. I figured any blurriness from the camera could only improve the way things look.
Our tomatoes have been taking a beating from the heat in August. They were on the way down when we decided to prune them up. Now, they are actually coming back, especially the Porters. We'll probably have tomatoes for several more months, just not as many. The vines look pretty bad, but I can't bring myself to cut them down yet.
I'm really looking forward to digging some sweet potatoes. I should have done a better job of picking a suitable variety for our area, but we'll just have to take what we get. I'm sure they are gonna look pretty ugly based on the few I've dug up so far.
We've done pretty good at growing gourds. I guess I'll have to figure a way to paint them and make bird nests to hang in our trees. I can make a few mistakes and still have plenty of gourds left.
Our squash has taken a beating from squash bugs and stink bugs. It's starting to wilt and fade fast. Honestly, we have probably harvested 700 lb out of this little patch, so we have to call it a success. Lots of folks have had our squash to eat this year.
I took a picture of some tomatoes, peppers, and okra we had picked. It's a pretty sad picture compared to Don's Hawaiian dee-light, but it shows we are still getting fresh food from our tired garden.
