jinma 224 hydraulic filter question

I have the same hydro outlet too. Not much use without a return. It could be used for a dump cart I guess. Hydro raise and gravity lower.
Question, does that fill tube on yours have a dipstickto check fluid level? I know a guy with a 284 XD with same set-up and we can't find dipstick. (his does have spin on filter).

( I also have that remote on the rear of my 224. Everytime, I'm at the back of the tractor, I keep wondering what can I use this hydraulic coupleing for. )
It's for a dump trailer lifted by a hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic pressure to lift the bed, gravity to return the bed to horizontal and the fluid to the sump. Not practical for use with a HTL. They all come equipped to work with two hoses; supply & return. The dump cylinder must be of a type that uses one hose for both.

here is another pic. The red cap on the left is the fill port, but it fills verry slowly there, I got a lot more in faster by removing the red bolt on the right. That one had a dipstick and I needed more than 2 gallons of fluid. GLad I checked as the FEL was woking erratically, and someone here advised me to check the fluid. They were right on too. Nice and clear but way low, had to be a dealer misteak cause theres no leaks. FEL works fine now.

Another thing about this filter location. Now its at the bottom of the reservoir...so while priming now would happen automatically, I would have to empty the hydro box completely before I checked out the filter (right??) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif if thats really where its at....(whats behind the mystery flange with the 4 bolts? curiosity is killing me.....

Do you think the filter would be less likely or more likely to get clogged in this location? If crap settles to the bottom I would think it would need more attention, not less. And I wonder what that filter looks like. I havent really looked for an inline filter, but if I do find one, would that take the place of the under-the-seat filter shown in the 100 hour service pages? Am I looking for TWO hydro filters??? gotta look tomorrow.

Completely different setup. Any pictures from the front of the unit? Is the Valve still under the front edge of the seat?

Hey TSSmart,

Very interesting. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

More Pictures of the entire rear end and side views of the engine and in front of the seat too Please.

This is beginning to look like much upgraded unit.

Is that 2 oil lines at the back now for quick connect?

Looks like you got a winner.

Have a nice day,
Joe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Assuming they just changed the position and not what's actually inside, then it's not really a filter at all. I'd be more inclined to classify it as a suction strainer. Adding an external filter/dessicant would make for a cleaner/dryer hydraulic system. But I'd think you'd still want the strainer in the sump to keep the big chunks from circulating.

I can relate to your concerns about draining the sump to check the strainer. Even though my KAMA does have an external strainer/filter, they plumbed it into the bottom of the sump housing. Checking/cleaning still requires draining down the hydraulic system.

Hi Joe. I added a hyd. top link to mine, but I just stacked another valve on the FEL control. 'Course if I remove the FEL I lose my hyd. top link, but I don't see any need to take the FEL off. It made for easy plumbing of the hoses to the link. I don't have the remote as you do, but I know you come up with something.

That rear port sees the same pressure that is applied to the 3PH lift cylinder.

To get pressure to it alone, you have to fully close the 3PH lowering speed knob in front of the seat. This keeps the 3PH from lifting and sends all the flow/pressure to that port to operate a dump trailer. The fluid sent to a trailer through this port returns the same way as gravity pushes down on the dump trailer, when the 3PH control lever is placed in the lower/float position. This is the same as the fluid from the 3PH lift cylinder.

CATION: don't attempt to use this port without first checking that the saftey valve on the 3PH is set properly. The majority of flow in this system is through the 3PH valve. If you send all the pressure to this port without something connected, you have just deadheaded the system. In diagnosing a blown seal and leak, I attached a gauge to that quick connect port and discovered that the rear saftey on my 3PH control valve was set in excess of 3000 PSI... This blew out the "O" rings on my prince loader valve.

Hello TSmart

I think you got the same jinma 224 as I did. The pictures show the same configuration as on my 224.
On this moment I have no power steering, no 3PTH moving and only a slide movement on the FEL.
I just bought me a new hydraulic filter, a few gallons of hydr. fluid. Tomorrow I want to change filter and fluid. I will look behind the 4-bolt flange and banjo bolt on the right side. So I can let you know what's behind.

Well, at least I am now qualified to offer some advise. Your tractor is doing what mine did, and I found it was WAY low hydraulic fluid. Take off the seat, the dipstick plug is red and on the right. Unscrew it. It is indeed a dipstick. My level was nowhere near the bottom of the dipstick. Soon as I added fluid to the correct level, my hydraulics instantly became smooth all over. Perhaps the dealer failed to fill yours too.

Since the suction hose is located so low on the sump and I was sucking air, you can imagine how low I was on hydro fluid.
