Jinma Chipper Feed Roller Connection Problems

Fill it (with weld) drill it and re-tap it, no big deal. <snip>
IF you have A WELDER!!

Sorry, but there are some things which seem to be assumed on TBN. We don't ALL have welders and getting equipment to a welder when you are out in the sticks can be a royal pain for small things. And probably many of those that do have welders have little welders that can't do thick metal.

Luckily I was able to buy an Everlast PA300 so I can probably do it now.

I could have went to the local box store and bought a gasoline powered chipper that would maybe run some twigs (I don't consider the box store chippers to have much capacity, a 5 horse motor don't have much grunt in the first place) for 600 bucks or buy somthing that runs PTO power for a couple grand, but this one appeared on CL one morning so I grabbed it.

You don't find many used ones. That tells me that while they might not be perfect, they do the job so owners don't sell them.

Tell me about it.
I searched for months, maybe a year for a PTO chipper and all I found were as expensive as my 8" Jinma new. Then right after I prepared to pick up my new chipper I found a "used" one for sale that the guy had burnt/broken all the belts off, but that was the only one.

Like I said, they might be a bit on the cobbly side but obviously a keeper because other than the one I found on CL (and jumped on it right away), I have never seen another used one and I peruse CL all the time.....

Certainly a handy tool to have around.

I thought about making the seller a lower offer, but I paid his asking price, didn't want to loose it.

Gonna buy a bare driveshaft from Tommy and modify the one I have to real sealed/greasable U joints. That should eliminate the issue.

Thinking about doing an ad on Fleabay for knife grinding. We have the machinery and there must bee a whole bunch of chippers out there that need sharp knives........ The old beat up set that I got extra, you could shave with them now.

5030, what was the response to your knife grinding ad? We arborists are constantly replacing knives on our chippers. There are a few grinding services "out there", but few enough that many owners must buy new knives every time they change. I've got many sets of used knives (4 per set, double edged) for my Bandit 250. It may be time for me to box them all up and send them to you for sharpening. Let's talk.
