Hey BWP50,

Man if I were in your shoes, I would get with East Winds Tractor over in New York. They are selling the Kama 354C tractors at very attractive prices, and one fellow posted that he bought one for 6K. They also had another one on Ebay that may also have gone for 6K as well.

With the 354C, You are getting 4wd, Shuttle Shift, and a 35hp engine that is way more powerful than either the YanMar or the jinma 254.

The one that I saw online, was a beautiful White with Black/chassis.

If I had known about them,,when I got my Jinma, that is what I would have done, without question.

Don't be a day late and a dollar short.

Have a nice day,

One consideration. If a 30yr old Yanmar is bringing $8000 today and a new Jinma is the same. What will the Jinma be worth the day after you buy it? The Yanmar will still be worth $8000. I say this because I have a friend with a 2004 Jinma and he is trying to trade it in on an Iseki tractor. He is going to loose big bucks if he can get the trade made.So far no takers.

Anything bought new will have to depreciate until new prices raise far enough to offset the depreciation.

There cannot be an endless supply of grey market tractors. those newer than 1999 will never be legal to import due to EPA regulations. So the independent dealers that are supporting the grays will eventually leave the business, this coupled with the intense efforts of the manufaturers who build them to stop their import into US. Jinma on the other hand is already shipping EPA compliant engines so in 30 years, It would not surprise me that the Jinma is worth more than a 60 year old Iseka or Yanmar. Just my opinion...we'll see in 30 years. Lord willing!

It is my understanding that the Japanese are just as environmentally concious if not more than we are. I would be surprised if their tractors didn't comply with our EPA regs.

I think, since there are so many yannar tractors already here, there will always be a need fror parts.I agree somewhat that some of the small dealers maynot be around, but the large dealers will be around & be able to make it on supplying parts .

I doubt the engines sold for use in Japan or other countries carry US EPA certification. They may be clean burning as can be but if they do not have the sticker they can't come in (year 2000 or newer). Of course most of the gray market tractors I have seen are 70 and 80s models so it will likely be antother 10 years before it becomes an issue to deal with anyway.

I have a 1999 Yanmar and it is Tier II compliant. They were worried about emissions long before we were.

I guess you missed the fact that the original question is about a gray market Yanmar.

I stand corrected! I wonder if parts are hard to find for them?
The hood design looks iseki? I still would go for the jinma in this case. If were a wealthy man I would collect these yanmars though!!!!
