Jinman's Lift Project

   / Jinman's Lift Project #11
Here are some more photos of Thursday's work. If you look closely you will see Bird, TxDon, Jinman, Mikim, and me. What I hope you see is a team working as a team. There is a special feeling that one can only get from working as part of a team and having great success. We did it.

God bless all of you...

Anyone in construction knows at least The Rule.

The Rule is: the last ten percent of a project is going to take ninety percent of the time.

Friday was all about detail and finish. A saving grace is Jim and Kathy have planned on a deck remodel project so we didn't have to be super detailed on that. The professionals will cover that.

I would recommend this unit in a heart beat. It was an easy install as far as the unit went. It has all of the safety stuff covered.

If coming down it encounters interference it stops. You don't have to worry about crushing the old dog who naps beneath the lift sometimes. The door at the deck only opens in and will not open at all unless the lift is at the door height. The door has self closing hinges so the door should never be open unless it is being used.

Jim was on the deck most of the day. It was one of his best days in some time. By afternoon late he was done for the day. So we put off the demonstration of him using it until this morning. The saddest part of that is Mike and me were there to clean up our tools etc and Don and Bird were home, recuperating I bet.

The pay off of course came this morning. When I arrived Mike was all picked up and Jim was having a great day. We had a photo shoot of Jim and Kathy using the lift. It was a special moment.

September 26th of 2004 we had our first TBN get together. Those who attended that event got a stone with the TBN logo sandblasted in.

When we were discussing where to put the lift location I noticed the TBN stone sitting right where the lift is now.

I'm not inclined to believe in things beyond the here and now. But I would like to think this was a sign of where the lift was supposed to go, carved in stone even.

I have some video of Jim and Kathy using the lift. I plan on using newly acquired skills and making a YouTube video to post here, might take a day or three.

My TBN stone is at the cornerstone of my barn, I use it as a step to get onto the sidewalk.
