Back many years ago B.C. (Before Cell) phones, I was at a place in town doing some manual labor, got called into an interview. Asked if i could have an hour to go home and clean up, 'Nope. Right now'. I wore a T-shirt, scruffy jeans, long unkempt hair and beard. I couldn't smell my self, but i'd worked up a sweat so i'd assume i wasn't odour free.
Walked into the interview room, one person, it turned out she was the HR director. Her eyes kinda flashed, i thought here we go the quickest interview, three hours later she was showing me around and introducing me to people as we went. I became the IT manager a few years later with my boss being the CFO. Full disclosure, that company went from one surgery center and two clinics, to multiple states clinics and surgery centers. Not advocating a particular dress code, my last interview was suit and tie.
