Whenever I see a washed up has-been actor or athlete hawking medicare advantage plans, reverse mortgages, or walk-in tubs I sometimes google their name with the word like “alcoholic” after it. Like “Kelsey Grammer alcoholic”, “Joe Namath alchoholic”, Mike Ditka alcoholic”. You would be amazed at what turns up, and in what percentage. It’s not 100%, but it makes for some interesting reading. And it begs the question, “Why in the world would anyone take advice or suggestions from any of these people?”

Everybody gotta be someplace. Not everybody can peddle tater chips like Mario Cuomo & Ma Richards did. Dey got name recognition some hustler gonna hire dem to peddle his crap.

I dunno, probably the same reason labor unions, civic organizations, etc. endorse political candidates. "Well if the Amalgamated Soapstone Cutters union says Joe Schmoe is their guy, that's good enough for me". I would hope people would think more for themselves, but maybe not.

I finally saw one of those Joe Namath ads a few days ago...jeez, he looks awful.

I can't imagine watching TV without my TIVO. I would probably stop watching if I had to suffer through those ads.
