a. What happened to Joe's money? I think he was the first million dollar athlete and that was back in the 60's when a million meant something.

b. When I looked into Medicare, even impartial advisors [like at the senior center] steered me away from Advantage plans. No matter how good a deal, they can and will raise the premium soon enough.

c. I find the Liberty commercials an insult to my intelligence. Once when doing an online comparison, Liberty came up in list of "good deals" and I wouldn't even look at the price. I'd love to meet the guy who decided on this ad campaign. The sad thing is it must work or it wouldn't still be on.

The truly sad thing is the amount of money companies like Liberty, Geico etc., etc...spend on advertising...if they put that money back into the business they could greatly reduce the cost of insurance and increase shareholder equity and dividends etc...

LoL...try Googling "part c supplemental insurance"...!

Try telling your insurance agent you want a supplement when you really wanted an advantage plan. Try that.. LOL

Well, I do what I can to avoid parasitic scumbag people that know very little about subjects they are unfamiliar with.

And just so you will know Piney, while you may consider me a parasitic scumbag insurance salesman, I feel proud to have served my clientele with honest representation and to truthfully answer their questions and help them choose the proper policy for them based on honest information provided by me. I would hope you are proud of your avocation also, what ever it is. But for sure I know you are not a Life and Health representative and I can tell you know very little about it.

In all seriousness, having enjoyed several debates with you over the years, I believe you. I would have no problem buying insurance from you, as I sense you are an honest man. My two cents...

I have always done my best to represent both the good and the bad of the products I represented. Like almost every subject, The life and health products have good points and bad points. And deciding whether to go down the road of supplements or to go down the Advantage plan road is one of the forks in life that we must choose as we turn 65. One thing to remember is that if you do choose the supplement path, you can ALWAYS change your mind and go with and advantage plan, BUT depending on your health you MAY not be able to make the change from Advantage Plan to Supplement after your once in a lifetime "window" closes. If we had a crystal ball that would tell us when our lives would end and how our health would be along that journey, we would really have the tools we all need to make insurance decisions. But trust me, I have seen so many people that were unhappy with the choices they had made about their Medicare. And in many cases, those choices cannot be undone. I have seen the tears, I have seen the financial heartbreak.

In any case thank you for your trust in me.

Looks like I need to get back to you in 3 years... Cause I have no clue what you are talking about, but I do know the day is coming for me to know.

Use a DVR and skip the ads.
That's what we do. Rarely watch anything live, news, whatever. Always recorded. I like watching football but I don't start watching until at least part way into the game. Watching TV live means you are wasting about 30% of your time on commercials. And I don't need that many trips to the refrigerator or toilet.

While I can advise you in general terms, I cannot be specific as I am only licensed in 3 states and can't even legally talk to you about specifics of an Advantage plan. You need to find a good licensed agent in your own state you can really trust. And I know that is not the easiest thing in the world to do. And even then some of the Local guys that have an agency that sell all types of insurance and just happen to have a license for Life and Health but don't specialize in it, are often lacking in knowledge about the nuances of the various plans. The reason being is because the plans change all the time, and the dang rules change all the time. The best agent I have ever run across was my wife. She specialized in nothing but Life and Health in the senior market, and that is a full time job. She taught me everything I know about the business and she is far sharper than I about the nuances of it.

The last time I saw Namath on the tube was when he was totally skat faced and tried to kiss Suzy Kolber in a half time ad. Haven't watched any t.v. in many years and don't miss it a bit.

Today should be the last day for Joe's Medicare pitch.
His advertising residuals will dry up now,..... just like Joe.

There are two commercials I mute.
One is Joe Namath selling Medicare insurance
The other is Tom Selleck selling reverse mortgages
Can’t stomach either one.

I agree. Selleck's brand is the straight talking tough guy, and marketers apparently believe the public will pay more attention to what he says. After all, he "Knows what's what" !

For all I know Selleck is a great guy in real life, but I certainly would not make financial decisions based on his (or any other actor's) advice.

I saw Joan London peddling Medicare insurance today. Is she late getting in the game? Nicer to look at least (muted) than Horse tooth Joe.
