Got this tractor a few months ago every thing was working fine and yesterday I could not get the shift lever in forward or reverse. It feels like it is stuck or hitting something. the lever moves maybe 1/8 inch. Any Ideas what the problem could be?.

I am guessing PowerReverser is the lever that will not move. If range lever is in Park Forward/Reverse lever for PowerReverser will not move.

Range lever is in neutral and when I disconnect the cable under the tractor the shift lever can be moved

When you disconnect the cable do you mean you can move the shift lever top side? Not sure if you have a left hand reverser lever on steering column or right hand reverser lever mounted in fender console. Or do you mean you can move the lever the cable was connected to?

My guess is you mean you can now move the top side lever to Forward or Reverse, not the lower lever. I also assume you mean the cable from the F/R lever.

You may have to take the control valve apart and see if something is bent, broken, or binding
