John Deere 2025r or Kubota lx2610

My first experience with a "tractor" as a newbie was in 2009 with a BX2660....a work horse for sure. But, IIRC, it was a two range HST. It was squealing in low or lugging in high to mow my place. Went to a 2012 B2620, also have a 2018 B2650 and have been happy ever since.........

BTW, as I understand it, The HST transmissions are whiners compared to geared tractors...but I'm not in CAB'ed models...and am used to it...or never knew the difference. Maybe the newer models have gotten better in that regard.

Cheers,
Mike

I think the dealer is probably more important than the tractor as long as you are comparing like machines. That said, the LX2610 is just more tractor than the 2025r. It has stronger hydraulics, lifts more, weighs more, and is slightly bigger. The added weight mean it will be all around more capable. The 3rd range is just fantastic to have.

I would compare the B2601 to the 2025r. The B01 is smaller than the LX, and closer in size to the 2025r. That said, the B01 still has the 3rd range and more lifting capacity. I can't recall if it is heavier or not.

I bought a B2601 after I thought I was set on the 1025r. In the end, I got more tractor for less money, and a better dealer. I've also found my B01 spends most of its time in mid range. Low if I'm doing ground work or digging, high if I have to travel a longer distance, but most of the time it's in mid and that works well. I don't think I'd be happy with just a 2 range, granted they would be closer together, but then I'd lose out on some top speed and or low end torque most likely.

I use the 3-speed options a lot my little Kubota. It is especially nice with my 6' finish mower mounted on the 3-pt because it puts more power in low-range on the PTO when the mowing is really heavy, and doesn't stall out with ground speed or make the hydrostat scream for some mercy!

John Deere builds a great tractor that seems more expensive when you do side by side comparisons.

The John Deere business model would be a serious issue for me to overcome and go Green today, and I grew up on John Deere tractors. John Deere would not be my choice on a small tractor because they are so focused on big tractors and selling service contracts on them.

John Deere is also collapsing its dealer network to a few major players so, the personal service aspect is a thing of the past. I bought my Massey because the tractor is a great one for me and the local dealer takes good care of me.

Massey 1723e/1725m . I have both a gc2310 and the newer gc1725m. Great machines. The FEL out lifts and is faster than my "friends" kubota.

I have the 2025R. It barely has 18hp on the PTO and it struggles with a 4’ tiller at times. The backhoe isn’t very strong and my old BX backhoe put it to shame. Otherwise, it’s a good machine. I’d go with the LX.

Looking at buying either the John Deere 2025r or the Kubota Lx2610. Any insight?
If you go with the Kubota make sure it is the new one with the revamped HST. The 2022 and earlier have a very noisy HST and it was resigned to quiet it down. It was hard on the ears.

If you have a TYM or Branson dealer nearby, I would take a look there. For the cost, they offer a lot of value to weekend warriors with a solid build and good powertrain. If I sell my L4600, one of those Deutz-powered TYM tractors is probably going to find its way to me.
