John deere 2440 filters and maintenance

I can provide those part numbers from memory due to my 21+ yrs of employment at a JD dealership. Although 2440 has a serial number break @ sn 341,000 the filters are the same PN's. I would also suggest to check hyd oil sump screen(key 13) which requires draining of oil or placing nozzle of running shop vacuum in hyd filler hole with excess hole are blocked off with shop towel.
Hyd filter is AR75603,
engine oil filter is T19044
fuel filter is AR50041

Regular threads? I've tried both ways and unable to break it free. Scared I'm gonna strip it

Yes when the foot lever is engaged it comes on. Never really paid attention to the smaller lever. I'll check shortly.

What do you do to prevent grinding sounds when engaging the pto with the side lever ?

I just switched it over. I don't recall pushing the clutch in.

Dumb question but I pulled what I think is the hydrualic plug. But when I refilled I only got 5 gallons in and the little dip stick on the right side shows full?

PTO lever by left heel should only be moved forward with engine not running. Foot clutch has no connection to hyd ind pto. Trans should hold about 8 gallons after draining. Did you check hyd oil level with engine idling?

Didn't check running. Also I can switch side pto lever while running.

Still appears to be full. Hmm... hydrualic and transmission are filled in the black cap on the back and drained right next to the filter correct?

Also I was just using it and the loader was working great then suddenly it acted as if no fluid. But as soon as a started up a hill it worked again.

Update: did this sitting in the driveway so I added some fluid. Not much change. As I raised my rpm it worked better. Drop them down started acting up.

Do you have an implement attached to pto shaft? On hyd pto model the lever by left heel will shift forward easily with no load on pto shaft. Hyd's sound as if there is a large internal leak. Have you checked to be sure hyd filter relief valve is seating?

I think you need to discuss hyd problem with person you just purchased tractor from!!!
