Martin says-I compared, and yes I paid more than some other brands, but I found that although I paid more upfront I get more in resale down the road, so it really makes up for it?
Martin, How many tractors have YOU sold??? The dealer finaceing will kill your resale value.:ashamed:

Murph, you've took this way out of hand. You don't like Deere that's perfectly fine, no need to make it seem like we're stupid for buying them. They are one of the largest, if not the largest tractor maker in the world today, there's a couple people besides just me and Roy that see value in them.

My question to you was not supposed to be showing any "sass" for lack of a better word, I simply wondered why you didn't asked the question like Deere is not a good tractor to buy.

And I have sold quite a few tractors myself and received much more than off trade in. Even off a trade in, though, I will receive more for a Deere than a similar competitor. I don't understand your rant...

Martin I like John Deere tractors, I don;t like their prices. I never said you or roy were stupid. I actually respect you both. :)

From what I have read on TBN, prices, attitudes and dealerships VARY so much from dealer to dealer area to area that it can really skew what people think of certain brands.

I know that back when I was first looking at new tractors I was having real difficulty with ALL of my local dealers. Attitudes and being condescending and arrogant were unbelievable. Then I found TBN and read about all these great dealers and I thought " What world do these people live in?". People talked about how much their dealer would help them out, even let them take a tractor home for a weekend to try it out.

When all you had seen was negative, it is hard to grasp that it is not that way everywhere. A person that my wife talks with on the Internet has bad things to say about every off brand that there is. I asked her what in particular was her problem with these brands. ALL of her complaints ended up to be dealer oriented and really had nothing to do with the off brands. But because of these poor dealerships she has bad feelings for these off brands when it is not the brand, but the dealer.

John Deere probably has the best overall dealer network followed by Kubota. BUT, if you are in an area that has a great off brand dealer that knows what is going on and is willing to help the customer (one of the reasons that he would be a great dealer), I believe that the service even with serious mechanical problems can and would be taken care of in a timely manor. ALL brands have BAD dealers some where. Bad dealers are not isolated to off brands, sadly just a little more common because standards may not be as high as with the major brands. :(

Just my :2cents:

Very well said. I will not, and have walked out on dealers, that bash other brands. Totally irresponsible and really turns me off the brand. My area is about 60% Deere 20% NH/Case and 20% Kubota. Deere has by far the best dealer and the only "off brand" dealer is clueless. Multiple off brands have dropped him he's so bad. Kubota doesn't have a dealer very close (30-45 min) and Deere has about 4 closer is the only reason.

Well guy I'll just get right in and say y I want a John Deere it's because that's what I grew up with lol and it's something I know just works and something I know I can depend on... I know that they are expensive but so are they all from the research I have done. Also I think it is true about the one dealer being better the next.. And I'm not that the other tractors are dependable it's just that I I LIKE JOHN DEERE ..

How do turf tires work with chains?? Cause I'd would like tires that don't mess up my grass to much.

   / John deere 3000 series #48
Chains in the winter are a good idea, not anytime else though. If you are going to be mowing with this machine then turfs may be a good idea but industrials are really good on grass

If you can get a good deal on either then both would be perfectly fine. I like the industrials because I don't mow but am still on lawns, if your mowing though, then turfs make sense.
