I figured I'd update this thread, now 8 years later, we still put 5000+ bales a year (a couple of years almost 10,000) through the 336 and its still a treat to bale with. I solved my banana bale problem slightly, bale at less than 250 bales an hour or run the pto up to 580 when you are rushing before rain.

It dropped 2 knots this year out of all the bales, both when the spool splice goes through the tensioner.

The 336 dropping bales on the ground is a perfect match for my L5030 hstc, I was worried about the pto the first year, almost 50,000 bales later its not an issue. Hills I thought were a problem early on, not the case, was just me trying to put 350 bales an hour through it going up steep hills. My major complaints are not enough spool storage when you start a day with a part spool. I end up carrying an extra in the tractor. Also, although much more reliable, it just can't punch out bales like the 224 and 228 did. Those extra plunger strokes counted on the MF's.

The major update for next year is a used JD 348 is joining the steed. Its about 30 years newer, I think about 2/3 as many life time bales as my 336. If it works out my 336 may be heading down the road or be in the shed waiting for breakdowns. Maybe on big days it will bale too. We'll see.
