OUCH.

Glad I'm only repairing an older JD tractor.:D

What's the weather prediction? Look like you'll get to bale soon?

Dropped in a few times to check on your tractor rebuild.. great info and real encouragement for us DIY'ers.

Not good weather outlook up here! It's been very cool and very wet here most of the summer. Looks like cloudy, cool wet thru the end of the month.

Most of the hay is headed out and probably a week or so from seeding.. So, it should be in the bale already!

I think most of the rebuild is done 'til winter due to money and time constraints. It's mostly to a point of being fairly usable, at least if I would quit breaking impliments.

How is the weather going to affect your ability to sell the hay since you guys up there really only get one shot at this?

I have too many other projects to mess with right now. Have some fence work to do (no end to it). Have 11 calves I need to brand this weekend. Need to haul hay out of the back pasture - 72 rolls or so.

I am going to go look at an accumulator and grapple on Sunday if I can find the time.

I know that feeling. The work needing to be done on the farm seems to accumulate faster than I can get to it.

I have a few projects I's like to get back to working on, but with hosting a regional picnic in a few weeks, I need to spend the time getting the farm ready for visitors instead. With the mower not working it's going to be a lot of work with the weedeater and hedge trimmer. Not to mention taking out a couple of fences I just got put back in this spring.:confused2:

Glad to hear everything's back runnin' - except the mower..

Likely have lot's of cheap, rained on hay; good for cows - but not so good for horses!

I might get it going for a last cutting this year, but i am not betting on it.

I'm sorry to see it have to go on a back burner as it's been an interesting project to follow, but I certianly understand the need to deal with what's needed today.

I'd betcha that my local JD guy would happily sell you a new knotter assembly! Should I give him your email?

You get a chance to "firm up" the bale chute?

Those calves are probably gettin' some size to 'em about now.. (About 350lb or so?) Probably won't be flankin' 'em and just droppin' 'em on the ground!!

Went up to look at the hay fields last night! Some knot-head neighbor kid went cruising around the field with a 4-wheeler!!! Aaarrrgghh!! Looks like he layed over about 20% of the standing hay. The disc mower will pick up some of it and I'm hopin' that it'll start to pop back up if we get a week or so of kinda decent weather. Gawd... it's always somethin'!!!

Knotters are the least of my worries at this stage.

Plunger guides and the bale chamber are the big projects.

I will get it figured out - just too much going on.

I hate it when people do stupid stuff like that. Ask around - might find out who did it. Maybe you need a trespassing sign like this one:

No Trespassing - Will Be Shot Sign

Don't worry - it will get done - just more of a project than I planned it to be...
