Got to put a few hrs on the 4105 ! WOW !! I LOVE IT !!! its great ! I pused down about 20 ft wide and 50 foot long , tree filled sandy area . Bushes , trees , the 4105 dug it out ! I also learned how to scoop and fill up holes !! My wife got to drive it alot , I would pick up the small roots and throw them in the bucket , then she would go dump it ! Fun day . I am off all week , so working JD HARD !!! The only problem is the yellow " fill knob' above center link , is leaking . I took it out and flipped O ring around and that made it worse. Buying new O ring Tues . Called dealer , he said its a vent and filler knob . So its ok to vent some ?????? I hope its not going to be a problem . I did cjeck fluids , 3 Xs with 3 being full , its on 2 x . I did work the FEL HARD for HRS !!! maybe I over worked it , and it pushed out some fuild out the VENT in the knob?

Might have gotten overfilled. Just keep an eye on it. If I'm correct (about the overfill), once it pushes out any extra fluid, you won't see any more venting.

I replaced the O ring , and its leaking worse :(. Going to read book and learn how to check fluid on dip stick . Its leaking down both sides and drips on floor :(. I hope I do not have a problem , I hope its just over full ? I did work FEL VERY hard for hrs , I hope I did not mess something up ? Any thoughts ?

Don't panic...this machine is new for you, so contact your dealer and see what he says...that's your first step.
You might have to drain some hydraulic fluid out (if it's overfilled), but wait and see what the dealer says first.

(EDITED) My guess is he'll take the tractor in and replace the hydraulic fluid and filter.

Is it leaking around the dipstick or the fill cap? Keep in mind that hyd oil expands when it gets hot.
I found this service bulletin.

coming out of VENT that is made into cap . I just read on some other site , " If you LOWER FEL withOUT engine running it will force fluid out the vent " I have lowered the FEL and 3 pt hitch a few times with engine NOT running . I will never do that again . Going to check fluids on Wed , and clean up mess , then drive it , and see if it still leaks . Also going to call dealer that sold it to me , to see if he can give me in help . I am out of town , so can not just drop by dealer ( 5 mins from house ) . I also read that a air leak could force it to leak ? I have some work to do , so I have to use it !!!! I guess I'll keep using it and keep it full of fluid , and let it leak :(

Goochy, print out a copy of that bulletin...good possibility your dealer won't know a thing about it!

Thanks for the pat on the back, Roy. I'll have to look up the specs on parts listed. I wonder how long the extension tube is? .......maybe tomorrow.

Dealer told me to STOP lowering the FEL and rear Lift , with engine OFF ., that should be my problem . I checked on parts on service notice , around $45-$50 should fix it . I might make my own . All I need is a extension pipe , with a fiitting for the cap to screw on

Let the dealer do it...or buy the factory parts.

One thing I am surprised about...this affects the 3x20 series, the 3203 as well as the 4105. Surprised this hasn't arisen before...especially with all the 3x20 series machines.

Fluid ok , I did NOT lower with engine off , cleaned up . Drove it for a couple hrs and leaked ALL over rear end out vent . John Deere will NOT replace parts . ( that was dealer out of town ) I am going to call my local dealer m that I bought it from , to see what he will do for me . I am still out of town , so can not take it to them . Not sure what to do , or what to look for ? Air leak ?

The dealer representative you spoke with is a Douchebag. Tell your dealer to print off a copy of DTAC solution #80527. Watch him read it. Then, see if he has the nerve to deny responsibility. Do they expect you to believe that a puddle under a new machine is normal and acceptable?

Or that not lowering the FEL or 3PH with the engine off is the solution...that is asinine.
