John Deere 4200 loader slow

Thanks for the information.

I have photo shop of which I can only manage a few functions.

The scanner is an HPJ5750 and it has a tendency to send the scans to unknown places or in unobtainable form?

What OS are you using? (Mac, Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, 32 or 64 bit, Linux)
Are you scanning using the HP software, the scanner's scan button, or other?
Are you using the printers scan to file/email feature?
Are you using Photoshop's TWAIN to scan?

Perhaps we can help...

There is definitely some help required but the old frame may be running low on bits.:D

I've got vista. Use the scan to button.

I have PaintShop Pro (photoshop 'lite') so I looked up the location for acquire in Photoshop. Here is the location, similar to mine. Also mentions the plugin and how to add it if needed.

Pull down on the file menu to the submenu "import" in there you should have the scanner plugin "vistascan" if you didnt install that photoshop plugin you need to go back and install it from your origional disks. It usually installs in the vistascan folder and doesnt automatically get installed into the photoshop plugin folder. you have to manually move it.

This will start the scanner and scan directly into PS. Should make life easier :)

Give it a shot and let us know how it worked out for you. Any problems, report back and we'll figure it out.

Hey,

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents into this very old discussion. I recently had similar symptoms on my 2001 JD4200. Loader would still lift heavy weights but suddenly became very slow, and I had to rev the piss out of the tractor to get any kind of speed out of the loader. At idle it would barely move, which, just one day previously, it would still move quickly at idle.

After reading this thread I removed my right fender to locate my bypass valve. In hindsight I could have just removed the metal panel(s) between the seat and footrest of the tractor to get at the bypass valve, but in any case I removed it and found a very tiny piece of metal lodged in one of the ports on the valve. It was preventing the piston from closing fully and I could see daylight through the top of the remaining ports. I depressed the piston with a 1/4" extension and fished the metal bit out with a dental pick. Cleaned and put the valve back into the housing and hydraulics were back to normal!

Thanks a ton for this informative thread, it saved me a lot of time and frustration!

I'll include a couple pics that might be useful for the next person to stumble across the page.

I've got a similar problem with my 4400 with 430 loader. Checked the bypass valve per picture above and it looked fine. A strange symptom of mine is that it actually moves faster at idle vs 2500 RPM. Loader will rise to full extension in 11 seconds at idle and about 16 seconds at 2500RPM. Any thoughts? Haven't checked the pressures yet. Thanks, Will

Last week I found the same thing to be wrong with my 4200’s 420 loader causing the loader to be sluggish. Removed small metal from the loader relief valve causing it to stick & it now operates like it should.
