John Deere 5075e verses 5075m

Final Tier IV seems to have fewer problems than interim Tier IV. Having DEF seems to be a better situation than a tractor with Diesel Particulate Filter - DPF and EGR - exhaust gas recirculation... (Don't you just love all those acronyms!). Biggest concerns seems to be - what happens when the tractor has 4000+ hours and you have to replace the SOC and the DOC - selective oxidizing catalyst and diesel oxidizing catalyst.

Today's cost is somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000-8,000!

As ovrszd stated, the new tractors, trucks, all have it! If you're looking at a new machine - you will have a DEF tank!

Friend of mine owns 8 over the road semis. 3 are final Tier IV. They are the least problem.

The road grader I run is Interim Tier IV with a DPF. It's estimated cost is $4000 to be replaced at 4000 hours.

Thank you Brett. But you say to consider 5085e or 5075 and that the e series is larger. Are the 5075m and the 5075e the same size ? I'm told the e series has more bells and whistles.
Thank you magician 710. My plans are to match a seppi mulcher to the tractor for more serious brush clearing. Brush oak mostly 1" thick to 4" thick. Occasionally 5"&6". Continue to mow lots , pastures, spread dirt and root grubbing. I stay busy 30/40 hours a week 10 months a year.

Your bush hogging 4-6" oak? What kind of cutter can withstand that? Oak is very hard to cut and I'm surprised that anything other than a Brown Tree cutter can handle that size material???

Oh I see now a mulcher. That sounds interesting will have to look that up.

I bought a used '15 5075E last fall, and I like it just fine. Hydraulics seem to be more than adequate using the FEL and it has plenty of pressure/flow even at low RPMs. I am not running a mulcher, just a JD 609 bush clipper, a spin ditcher, etc. Nothing too taxing.

The only thing I don't like so far is the air filters inside the cab are a PITA to get in and out. Other than that the AC/heat works great. Moving up form a 685 IHCase open station, this was a big step!!!

From what I have read, the DPF has to be serviced at 3500hrs and should last up to 8,000hrs before replacement. I am good with that. Mine doesn't use DEF so I guess it is not a tier F. But my 8310R isn't either, and it works just fine.

So does the M have the two speed PTO like the E? I really like that feature.

Not sure built in India is such a bad thing. I have gear drives on my combine what were made in Spain, the injector pump on my 4960 from Japan, and my 685 was made in the UK.
