I have a very basic question for everyone. I just started my tractor and it had the 'engine status' light and the stop light on so I turned it off immediately and checked the oil. I was not raised on a farm and I just bought it. I think I'm correct when I say that you add the oil where the dipstick is, but on the dipstick itself, at what level on the dipstick do I know it's full or need oil? I have the re544003. It has three round symbols on it. Should the oil be at the top of the symbols? I checked it but considering I just started it, it wasn't accurate.

I know it's a basic question but I appreciate it.

The owner's manual should say. But nearly always the full or do not fill above level is the top mark. Usually there is a lower mark that indicates the level at which you need to add oil. Between the two is the ok zone. Often there are cross hatches in that part. If there were two holes I'd say the lower one is the fill mark. With three it's likely the lower one still but it might not be.

I generally fill to the full mark but you need to be aware of the tilt of the machine if the ground is not level so you don't over fill.
