I know EXACTLY what you are trying to do as I have a similar land issue. So, I went down the same roads you are going down now.
I concluded that the hydraulics on the tractor are insufficient for the job in terms of hydraulic HP and heat sink capability. I also considered robbing the PTO pump with reservior and return line oil cooler from a road side mower set-up, but the hydraulic HP was still on the low side for a mulching head. Also, as previously mentioned our FEL is not designed to take that kind of beating and vibration for long term operation. Add to it the number of flat tires you are going to get working is a wood lot and I think the picture is clear. You have to use either a skid steer, excavator or payloader to do this kind of work.
FYI, I have set my 5420 up with a skid steer adaptor plate and ran hydraulic lines with flat face couplers up to the front of the loader. I have successfully run concrete breakers and post hole diggers with excellent results. Your hydraulic system will get HOT because you have no external coolers, but it will work fine for several hours at a clip without damage. Note that I will be adding an additional reservior and cooler to the system to prevent pump damage this summer when I do my new horse fence install.
