John Deere 6220 w/ Log Loader Trailer

Sorry, I don't know what you mean when you write 'spool'. The loader currently has a Honda 11 hp engine that runs a pump. The pump feeds a valve bank, which is made up of 5 valves, 3 of which function both right and left AND to the front and back (bucket, boom, stick, outriggers, etc.). I stand on a small platform and run the loader by pulling and pushing, or moving right and left on the different valves. Does this help clarify things. I am really new to the world of tractor hydraulics.

Each set of controls (ie: left/right, up/down) is one spool. So your joystick type valves are 2 spools each while your other valves (outrigger valves?) are one spool each.
As J_J said, some pictures of the valve bank, especially any tags on it and where the hoses to/from the pump/tank connect would make it easier to see exactly what you have.

SCV means selective control valves IE rear remotes on the tractor BUT after you provided info that you stand on platform to operate the trailer my idea won't be of any value.

Do you know what PB is or power beyond.

If not, it is a port on a valve that allows pump flow to continue on to the next valve. The OUT port of that same valve goes to tank.

What I am getting at is that if the valve has a PB port, it can be converted to closed center hyd system like your tractor.

That means that you can parallel the log lift valve set with the tractor CC system.

Can you show picture of valve bank?

I was going to get a image to send it to you. Then I got to browsing through the owner's manual, and found the attached page. Is this what you are referring to? If so, it looks like I should be able to run it right off the tractor after all. Will switching over to a closed system effect the performance of the loader?

That is exactly what I was referring to.

You do need the CC plug installed in the PB port. however. Only a couple of dollars.

You need to add a tee to the last valve in port and connect that hose to the IN port of the log trailer.

Using a rear remote to power the trailer hydraulics would be the easiest way to connect to the tractor. However, a few words of caution. It is IMPORTANT that you activate the remote in the correct direction so high pressure oil is supplied to the inlet of the trailer hydraulics. Return oil from the trailer will flow through the remote valve to tank. Before disconnecting the trailer hydraulics from the tractor, be sure to turn off the tractor, open the remote and cycle the trailer valves to release any trapped pressure. Without the remote valve open, in same direction to power the trailer, there is no return path for the oil to relieve pressure in the trailer hydraulics. If you have something lifted with the trailer, do not try to lower it unless the tractor remote is open. Do not leave the trailer sitting with a load on the hydraulics unless the remote is open as there would be no path to tank for any leak down unless the remote is open. If your remotes are not detented, use a bungee cord to hold the lever. If anything on the trailer, such as the out riggers, drift down when the trailer is sitting idle, then you should strap them up when disconnected from the tractor so you do not build pressure in the return line of the trailer.

Thanks, this is also helpful. One question comes to mind; what does 'detented' mean? I get the pressure issues, but don't what this term means in terns of pressures and such. Also, if I run the trailer directly off the tractor will performance be effected? In other words will I be able to do two functions at the same time - like open the bucket and raise the stick or boom?
