Actually no. This land is in West Texas in dry land cotton country. Is too far from a major city to interest a developer. what is is happening here is farmers are leasing out to wind farms. Not many folks live in the country anymore in this area so the wind farms are looking good with over 4 dollar diesel making dry land cotton farming even tougher. The farmers in my area have been putting an effort forward to get about 50,000 acres committed to a wind farm. I hate the thought of those windmills on my place and in my opinion unless some gadget makes wind generated electricity more economical, this is a passing fad and when the wind company goes belly up we will be stuck with the windmills. don't think i can cut one of those suckers down with a torch.
I have been considering selling the place although it pains me to do so. It has some upkeep and will be 225 miles from where I live after I retire. I am nearly 60 and my kids have no interest in it so when I croak it will change hands to another family--we have been there since 1932--so the question is do I sell it or does my executor sell it. If the wind farm happens, I will probably hold on to the property and take the monthly payments assuming windmills get placed on my farm. My Mom and Dad would be aghast, but they would understand I think.
