Forgive me for invading your space green guys for I am orange. ;)
But I am thinking about buying a John Deere flail and where better to get info but from the JD guys.

The mower in question is a 370
Does anyone have any first hand experience with John Deere flails?

Talk to me.

(Hmm, maybe this should go in the attachments forum)

Allen, I've owned a Deere 25A flail mower for about 13 years. It has held up well with the mowing I've done with it. They do give a better cut than the brush hogs. The only problem I've had with it is when the original bearings went out on the rotor. I had a friend replace it with an aftermarket bearing and the bearing didn't last two seasons. He replaced it again just this last summer, so we will see how long it goes this time. If the aftermarket bearings only last two years I'll try Deere Parts for the new bearings. The originals lasted for almost 10 years. Mine is also way over due for a new set of cutter knives.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try my best to answer.

Sincerely, Dirt

Thanks dirtworksequip.

I was at the John Deere house after I posted this question and the salesman smooth talked me out of the John Deere. He didn't feel that it would do the job that I was going to ask of it, at least not for a long time.
I intend to cut up to 1 1/2 inch material on occasion.
He directed me in the Gearmore/Vrisimo/Rears direction which I was headed there anyway.
I just thought that since everytown USA had a John Deere dealership, the 370 would be a better way to go for parts and support.

Again, thanks

Allen, I'd say that most manufacturers Flail Mowers I have seen are built really heavy duty and give about as mantenance free operation as possible for a long time without many breakdowns.

Sincerely, Dirt
