John Deere Full Throttle

That's why I love the older tractors with the mechanical fuel shutoffs.

Does that tractor have load match, or whatever JD calls it - something that electronically senses the transmission load and changes the engine speed? My guess is something along those lines is calling for full rack on startup.

load match does the opposite....it senses engine load and changes the tranny speed, thats why its only on e-hydro machines.....

Talked to serviceman at john deere who said most likely something in the governor is sticking. He recommended fuel conditioner, which I tried and it seemed to work until yesterday when it did it again. It is a non turbo yanmar with a power reverser transmission so luckily I can stall it when it winds up. After it does it a few times it starts and runs like normal for the rest of the day. I don't think it is a head gasket because oil and coolant are not mixing and levels of both are constant. The only electrical to the fuel circuit is the fuel shut off solenoid which is clicking when the ignition is turned off and on. The serviceman guessed in the thousands for repairs, ow, so I am thinking about trying to fix/clean it my self. Any ideas? Can I even find a service manual for an 07? Thanks for all of the input.

i can't really imagine it being anything other than in the injector pump.. and liekly fuel rack.. also don't know what it would be more than at most about 1500$ if you replaced the whole darned thing unless that one is real spendy. I bet a diesel shop could service it for half that..

Does this only occur when starting up cold?
The computer on these tractors takes command on cold startups (somewhere around freezing) and runs at about half throttle for several seconds (I haven't timed it but probably 10 to 20 seconds). I suspect this would be even longer and possibly at higher rpm at lower temps. My only experience is in the 20's F.
This was quite a shock the first time it happened with my 3520 and I thought it was running much faster until I looked at the tack. Dealer said this is "normal" and even pointed out a somewhat general statement in the Owner's Manual that idle speed will be elevated for a period after cold startup. I haven't tried to turn the key off during this period, so I am not sure about that part.

I know 'darn' little about this but am posting just to 'ferret-out' any additional info! I had been told that if a Diesel started pushing oil up through the rings, that it would burn the engine oil, as fuel, and 'take-off'! Other than stalling, with gears and brakes, it was 'out of control'! Forget the ignition switch. (Sorry if I said the same things from previous posters, in different words)...............~S

A 'run-away' won't shut down with the key.

if it's a run away due to a stuck rack and you have a key-fuel off solenoid.. hmm.. I think it might...

Hmmm, Technically, that's not a run-a-way.

Kioti had a run of F.I. problems, mine sounded exactly like this one.
