Does anyone know how to replace the friction disk on the hand throttle control on a John Deere 2840.
My throttle control slips back reducing the RPM and I continuously have to throttle up. I figured you probably have repaired yours by now and wondered how you made out. Thanks JD. My #11 spring is broken and one of the #10 disk is split, so the whole assembly will have to come out to repair. I think getting a pin punch lined up to take the roll pins out will be my most difficult problem.
Yes, you can adjust the nut without disassembly. As long as the lower #8 is not stuck to the shaft it should respond well to adjusting the nut.

I took off the side cover to get to the spring to tighten the nut, however, there is no nut to tighten, just a spring. The assembly is different than the one you have
posted. I recently bought this tractor to restore it is a 2240 model, would you have an idea on how to fix this ?
Thank you,
