I talked to the dealer in my old hometown. He's a single location family dealer. He said that JD seems to prefer the corporate owned multi-location dealerships that can "rule" an area. I think thats terrible. If you prefer to deal with a family type dealership you may have to travel out of the area. Hope the "area" is not too big.
John Deere, if your reading this, don't go down the same path that the car dealerships went. It is crap taking your car in to get repaired and the service rates are $92.50/hour. You will lose too many customers. Tractors are not cars. Don't let the "wet behind the ears" kids fresh out of college make decisions designed to make the company a few bucks based on some consultant's advise. (No offense to those who are recent college grads). Your customer's relationships are long term based on trust. You should offer the same price on any model to any dealership so that they can offer a competitive discount. Also, you should let them have more sayso over what they want to stock. It looks unhealthy for a dealership to have just a few tractors on the lot while his competition has them stacked 3-4 deep for each model. There aren't that many options on compacts that can't be installed at the dealer.
I'll try to calm down over in my corner...
P.S. I have no affiliation with any JD dealers other than the friendliness my dealer offers nor any JD stock (unless its owned by my 401k) .
