aesanders said:Why is it that John Deere Dealers seldom have a large inventory on hand. Even large dealers may have one or two 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 series models at any given time. Then you goto a Kubota dealer or New Holland dealer and they usually have many of each size. It seems like John Deere works on the build to order idea and does not want to stock many models.
Is this everyone's opionion or are the dealers I've visited (and I've been to a bunch up and down the east coast) unique in this aspect.
I agree, not many tractors in my dealer's lot. Makes it kind of hard to compare since I wanted a cab. They did have a cab tractor getting prepped for another customer that I did get to see but not drive. JD method of having relatively few sizes of CUT and the ability to get new tractor quickly makes the need for a lot of inventory not as important. For example, the 3000 twenty and 4000 twenty series are the identical tractor in each series with different HP. I did order a 3710 with deluxe cab and was here from distribution center in 5 days. My tractor was made 1 month before I bought it. The local kubota dealer buys all of his in the fall for delivery in Jan-Feb. However, from an earlier post, it seems as though kubota is changing.
