John Deere LA 110 Engine

I am repairing a John Deere LA 110 for a friend. He got it back from a repair shop in a thousand parts. I guess he blew it up forgetting engines need oil on ocasion! I cannot find an engine anywhere used. Its a 501 CC 19.5 horse motor. Is there another engine I could use? Not worth my time putting this mess back together.

As you can see depending on the age/quality of the rest spending much money on them can be iffy at best.

While controls may need to be altered but typically most any engine in the same physical size could be an option IF bolt pattern and crankshaft form and fit are the same.

I'll betcha you can find a used one on craigslist with a good engine for cheaper than buying a new engine. Here, I see them for much less than $1000.

Of course, I'm in Texas, but here is an example:
