Well I connected the hose to the backhoe to see if things worked. It was short lived, as soon as I started the tractor it started throwing Hdy Fluid, a major hole in the hose at the back hoe hose. so I guess next week I will head down to the hose man to see about getting a replacement. So much for the first day.

Bummer on the hose kartvines. You might have a look at all the rest of them while you're at it. One bad one is usually an indicator for the others.
Hard to tell the plumbing on that valve. Good news is you're all set for a hydraulic top link, if you ever want one. You won't want to hook the backhoe into those outlets as it needs continuous flow. That valve will only provide flow when it's engaged, and it will provide reverse flow when the lever is pushed the opposite way.
Looks like you can disconnect the valve from the power beyond. Is that how you hooked up the backhoe?
It would be helpful if you can take a picture showing the hoses from the power beyond outlets to that valve.

I will deal with one hose at a time, I sure they won't be cheap. I hope that the "hose man" has the connections, otherwise I will have to go to John Deere. I have added a photos of my power beyond unit. the left hose has a quick connect and the right hose is a permanent both are connect to the unit on my fender. So If I connect the backhoe directly to the power beyond I will have to change the connections. I got my #7 back hoe operator manual today, and things do not look right, but I guess I will only know once I get to putting things together. Thanks, I guuess the tractor is not too bad having over 1700 hours on it. Mike

Your Power Beyond looks OK Mike, so you'll have to figure out what's happening with that valve. Did you ever determine if your backhoe was in fact, on that tractor? What are the backhoe hydraulic connectors? Male/Female or two Males? Mine are Male/Female and they go right into the Power Beyond. Maybe someone else can help with that valve, I'm not familiar with that.

Yes that backhoe was on this tractor, I bought it from the same family, their father took it off to do some grading and died prior to putting it back on. On the backhoe I have two connector hose a long female and a short male, which is the one I have to replace. On the Power beyond unit. I have one quick disconnect hose with a female on the power beyound unit on the right on the left, the hose is connect directly to the upper vale on the right tractor fender. The family told me that the backhoe was connect to the valve unit, with the male connector, and the female connect was connect to the power beyound unit via the quick connect. But there are not 100% certin. Next week end I will take some photos of the manner the hoses are connected from the power beyound unit to the unit on the fender. Mike

It does make some sense that the backhoe could be connected to one side of the valve and to the power beyond outlet. That would put both the valve and the backhoe in series. That would connect to the supply or return ports on the valve, not the controlled ports (the ones with the pipes sticking out I think). Give it a shot and let us know how it works /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got all of the leaking hoses replaces, and a couple seals under the levers. Finally was able to see the backhoe move, which I thought was great, I had to bleed a lot of hyd fluid from the backhoe because I could not bleed off the pressure. things look good now. I have been able to unlock the slots, under the frame near the inside of the tires, they were stuck in the closed positions. Now the new problem, started to remove the 3 point hitch, removal of the upper parts went easy, but when it came to the lower arms, after removing all of the pins and such the arms would now move off the shaft. Am I doing something wrong? Does this hold unit needs to be un bolted from the frame? The part I am referring to, is called "draft links" page 37 of the 770 tractor operator's manual. How do I remove them? Also once I remove them and back the tractor over the bh will the inner latches lock them self once the bar inter the slots? [page 10 upper section in the #7 bh operator manual.] getting closer

Well I guess I now know why the back hoe was removed from my tractor, I was finally able to remove the 3 point hitch, what a chore that was, and got the backhoe attached. but it seem that the inner locking slot holder does not stay lock, when I tried to use the backhoe the bar slipped out for the inner slots and I had to stop 3 time and re install the backhoe. I tried everything and was unable to get the slot lock to remain closed. Being I have no intention or ever removing the backhoe if I can get it to work, I was thinking of have the inner slot lock to be tack welded so that the backhoe will remain in place. What do you think of me having it welded?
