John Deere quick hitch

So if I purchase a Imatch Quick Hitch for my JD2025r, will I have to replace all my PTO shafts? Can you purchase just one half of the shaft? While I would like the ease of the quick hitch, I not a huge fan of paying out for 2 complete PTO shafts.

JD has a pto quick connect you could add to shaft. Measure the amount of over lap on current shaft. Would it still be OK with 4" less?

If you watch videos on sizing pto shafts, you cut the same amount off both halves and the shields. You should be able to buy 1/2 of the shaft, just verify the over lap is sufficient.

Depends if you PTO shafts were cut long they may work.... You are adding about 4.5 inches length for QH.....Guess sits possible to get partial shafts... I think they actually make shaft extenders so you may not have to replace shafts... Might be less expensive to just get a "Slip Clutch" or something similar to extend shaft...

Thanks DL Meisen and i7win7! I have shortened pto shafts before and I have watched the youtube on pto's too. I only have a 4 ft rotary cutter and a 54 inch rear snow blower. But sometimes hooking up the rotary cutter is a pain! Snowblower at least it stays hooked up for the winter, but rotary I use only 3-4 times in the summer. Mower deck is on for summer mowing unless I remove it to use the rotary.

Nominal price difference between buying a full shaft and half shaft. Search you used listings and pick up one that you can shorten to use with your quick hitch.

If you have the quick hitch implement mount as well, your pto shaft never changes on the new quick mount (has a pto coupler on both sides)
