Comparison John Deere versus Kubota

/ John Deere versus Kubota #31
When i walked into the John Deere dealer, I felt like it was more inviting. I was only 15 at the time and I was getting my first tractor. The enviroment they had seemed more welcoming at JD, than kubota. I went with john deere because they knocked down the price and gave me a good deal. The Kubota bx looked a little cheesy, no ofense. Now when I go to John Deere they remember my name and I still talk to the salesman who didn't treat any differently because I was younger than most customers. I recommend looking at the details of the tractor and tell the salesman what your needs are. Before you buy compare financing rates and see who's price will win you over. thats what my dealer expierence was like.

May the best dealer win!:)

Problems with the Orange/Blue dealer, treated fairly by the Green one..........says eepete

My local kubota dealer isn't exactly people friendly, to be kind.... says ironhand

The kubota dealer made me feel like I was a 12 year old kicking tires....says spudland_dave

And my own dealings with a orange/blue dealer twit.....:D

Hmmmmm...... pattern emerging here? A top notch tractor... hung by its sales/managers? Dealer is very big part of tractor purchase decisions.

It is also said a good sales person could sell ice to an Eskimo....

I also wasn't overly impressed with most of the Kubota dealers that I went to. There were 2 that were great and 3 more that gave me the old, "Kubota's the best NH, JD, MF (whatever other brand I was comparing to) suck." That really turned me off. The only Kubota dealers that I was willing to buy from are ones that deal with at least one other brand too.

I couldn't bring myself to buy from a JD dealer. A big company bought out all the smaller JD dealers in this area (7 I believe). Since they had a captive audience and no competition they felt they could charge what they wanted for their tractors. The biggest discount that I got from any JD dealership that I went to (I visited a couple locations owned by the same company to see what they could do) was about 9.5% off of MSRP, I just know from reading other people's experiences here that other JD dealers are able to do much better than that so I frankly wasn't willing to pay the price.

Strangely the top 3 dealers that I dealt with were the NH dealer that I bought my tractor from, an MF dealer that I liked a lot and a Case/IH and Kubota dealer that also treated me great. Since I wasn't willing to buy a tractor from a great distance and have it shipped and then have to worry about who was going to service it I ended up buying from the dealer that treated me the best and most wanted my business who had the sharpest pencil. I haven't regretted it at all either. In the 3 months since my tractor was delivered I've gotten a bunch of phone calls and emails checking on how I like my tractor. It is for that reason that I would suggest as many before me have done to buy the dealer not just the tractor. All of these tractors are great and each brand offers at least one feature that they do better than any other brand. Buy from who gives you the best vibe and be happy.

Status dkostiha..... You have been rather silent on this ball you started roll'n:confused:

Being you have owned a couple of green tractors already, I suspect you will keep on with the green.....

Or you knew this would be a busy thread;)

I would lean towards a gear tranny if shredding is the "main" task. The only time I think a hydro would be nice is loader work.

One more thing, there has been statements made AFTER I pointed out a "common occurrence" about one brands dealers. The extra claims add momentum to my statement....:p

Remember DEALER, DEALER, DEALER. Brand not important in this case, you have it narrowed to the top two utility tractors.:D

The dealer is what keeps me returning to the same brand. I bought my first tractor used, just happened that it was a Kubota. It was the right size for the job I needed it for and had a FEL, which is what I needed. It also came with a 3pt snow blower and some other attachments and a not quite big enough trailer. Getting to the point, I had a couple issues with that tractor, neither very serious, and the dealer, who had never seen me before much less sold me anything, helped me out. The first problem I fixed myself so dealt mostly with the parts guy, very helpful. The second problem was fixed in their shop, they did a good job, didn't take very long doing it and the owner showed me the failed part and assured me that everything else was in nice shape.
When I decided it was time for a new tractor that is where I went. When I was looking at my current tractor I did check with another dealer about two hours drive away, mostly because I had to go to that area for something else. Their price for the same deal wasn't even close.
Shop for a good dealer, much as I like my Kubota if didn't like the dealer I would look elsewhere.

I am looking at a Kubota L275, 4 wheel drive with loader in the next couple of days. Any feedback on this model or how it will compare to my 770 ? Thx guys.

Powerwise, you'll be stepping up to the equivalent of a 790.

have you checked out the NH T1500 series. A T1510 is 30hp and a T1520 is 35 hp. Nh has a quick attach loader and bucket, i know deere doesnt. the tractors them selves are a lot heavier and have nicer features for pretty much the same price. The lift capacitie on the 3 point on these tractors are 1635 pounds. a lot more than the deere or kubota. If you would like more info and a comparison, which is just info you can find on all the brands website, i would be happy to show you

Actually, Deere loaders are quick attach (about 3-5 minutes) and the buckets come off quicker then that.

jdbnh, I take it you're a NH salesman?

I can say I have owned a lot of them except for Kioti. I prefer the John Deere. When it came down to price they were not that much different. Service and quality have always been excellent. I never had any trouble out of my John Deere tractors that I have owned. I can not say the same thing about Kubota, New Holland, or Massey. They are all building good tractors now with excellent quality including Kioti. What you need to really look at is how the dealer treats you. How long are parts going to be available and how quick can you get them? (The Kubota I had I waited 6 months on a part for it.) Look at the service department and talk to the service guys. Look at the warranty lengths and what do they cover? Also one of the main points for me is look at how the attachments Hook up? I do not feel that any brands hook up as easy as the John Deere, they are truely quick attach, no wrenches needed. Look at suttle shift or hydro trannys, they are so much nicer than the gear drives. Try out different brands and go with the one that you find most comfortable. Good luck.
