John Deere vs Kubota qustions?

That "American Pride" may be somewhat misplaced. JD's CUTs, to the best of my knowledge, are made in India, engines are Japanese by "Yanmar". My Kubota is made in Japan, assembled in the US . . . many of the Kubota brand attachments are US made, some Canadian.

Some JD cuts have very poorly engineered 3 point hitch lower link attachments that are prone to failure, there have been problems with engine and clutch bell cast housing cracking as those castings support FEL attach points. Not saying the other brands are without issues. To avoid unpleasant surprises, best to do a search for "problems" for any model you are considering. There will be glowing reports, as it's human nature to tend to support decisions we've made. There's horror stories too, but what's important is how customer service handles those and that the issue is not endemic (e.g. MF's hydraulic pump in the '05 GC 2310).

The 3x20 series are built in the US, but do use Yanmar engines. The 4x20 series were all built in the US and have US engines.
As a Kubota owner, you surely seem to be criticizing Deeres and making unproven statements..maybe that's human nature too.

All brands have had their problems....including Deere and including Kubota. We do read about these on TBN, but TBN members are a very small sample of a much larger population of tractor owners and we generally read one side of a story (the member's side) which may not be accurate.

JD has had lots of tractors made by Yanmar, and plenty made in India. The 5E series is made there now, for sure....they also have lots of problems with melted components, and small fires....no joke.

Deere is an international company....some are built in Germany and another European nation, IIRC.

As far as problems and melting component...how about a few examples that can be substantiated?

Seems like it's the non-Deere owners doing all the criticism...a touch of jealousy, perhaps?

There are a few threads on 5E's that overheat the hydraulic oil and melt the fuel tank...no fires that I have heard of. But the long and short of it is that the threads appear to be the same 3 or 4 people that posted on many forums. Deere has probably been selling several thousand of those tractors per year for quite a few years now, and the vast majority have no problems.

Yanmar only makes the 2 series and maybe 1 or 2 other models, (like the 3005, and the 4105 maybe?) for Deere. ALL other CUTs are made in USA. They have Yanmar engines in all new CUTs but the 4x20's had JD engines which were made in the US or Mexico..You have to look at the engine serial number to know. Mine was made in Mexico. JD is still the most made in the US Cut out there.

My Toyota Tundra was built in San Antonio, TX. Oops off topic :D. I think dealer support is also a factor, both JD and Kubota are nice machines. We have Ford/NH and couple Kubota products. I like them all. Narrow it down to your primary needs if getting one tractor. Talk to the salesmen at the dealerships and get a feel for what suits you best. A nice used machine is a great option which will open you up to a larger tractor price wise.

There have been a number if threads on the hydraulic issues (melting, not fires) with the 5E series (and transmission problems). One of the longer threads:

It was actually the 6300 series (made in Germany) that I read about having an issue with fires. I know Deere made changes, but some folks suggest the added shields simply made it harder to put out the fires.

Jealousy? Nope, I could write a check for any Deere CUT or Utility, but I'm not all that fond of green, and I think they're ridiculously over priced. Still, I'm not anti-Deere. I looked for a newer 830 as a mowing tractor, but couldn't find one anywhere nearby when I was shopping. :(
