Hello, I have lurked here for a while but haven't posted in this section before. I have a x475 with a few attachments.

I am getting ready to take off the 47"snowthrower, get it cleaned up and put away for the winter. I plan on leaving the quickhitch on to hook up to my front blade. Is there anything that I should service on the blower before putting it away? I plan on getting it cleaned up and touched up with some paint on a few spots. Any other tips or storage tips that I should follow?

hello,

I would also buy a can of WD40 and spray down the entire unit inside and outside.

There are two grease fittings on the auger and two on the drive shaft. I put grease into those fittings. I oil all the other moving parts - where auger connects to the frame, the connection to the drive shaft, etc. I touch up any painted areas that are scratched to prevent rust.

Good luck

Lube the chain very well,,
if it dries out and rusts,
they get noisy, and put extra
stress on the sprockets..

check your auger gearbox oil level,
and like mentioned grease
the auger zerks, to make sure the
shear bolts work as designed.

lube the chute, where it rotates on
the blower housing.

and double check the allen screws that
hold the drive couplers to the shaft,
(especially on the impellar). If they loosen
up, your impellar can slide forward and
hit the inside of the housing... not a nice noise.

sounds like that'll about do it.
I'm not taking mine off yet,, snow in the
forecast, and in the air as we speak!

Thanks for all the tips and information.
How do you go about lubing the chain, and with what?
How easy is the switch out from snowthrower to 54" blade?

Thanks again for all the help.
