Jubilee rotor clockwise or counter clockwise?

I posted on here a few months back about being a new tractor owner and replacing disy parts.
Rebuilding starter and never checked to see which way disy turned. Can't crank the motor to tell as starter is now dead. After I rebuilt everything , I double checked the firing order and only got a loud backfire before old starter quit. I never pulled disy, just replaced points, plugs, and wires, so timing shouldn't have changed. I just assumed a clockwise rotation....but if it's counter clockwise then I've got it messed up . spark is strong

Also.... When you pull oil filter to remove starter, how much oil spills out? Is a very smokey starter that cranked fine, then wouldn't .... A typical sign of bad brushes or is it more expensive like an armature?

You shouldn't have to remove the oil filter to pull starter. I'm away from home but memory tells me ccw

I first confirmed the firing order from my book 1-2-4-3. Then went to my naa. Standing by the right front wheel looking down on the cap the rotor needs to go clockwise to hit that order. Hope that helps.

It is 1-2-4-3 for sure, but I'm more than a few nauticle miles away from any manuals.

Yup,mgreynhair getting me. 8n is ccw, naa is indeed cw as you noticed
