July Fourth Weekend, What Is Your Pleasure ?

We'll probably harvest some trees for next year's firewood, load up the dogs and drive to the beach (actually, the pond is 100 yards away), sip some beers and bask on inner tubes while listening to music from the truck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, and since the backhoe is still mounted I might bury more unwanted items. Dug a HUGE hole this past weekend and buried a siezed up engine and tranny from a 72 Dodge, a pair of broken axles from a 57, a busted dishwasher and a broken commode.

10,000 years from now some archeologist is going to build a career on what he or she finds on our hill!

I don't think so, Pete. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think they'll be saying, "Look how these people lived in the ancient days. They had to live in the garage with their trucks!"

Friday and Saturday, there's the annual rodeo, about 3/4 mile to the south, then on Sunday...

Since we put a roof over our (21x28) patio earlier this year, we will be having a late evening patio party/fireworks free-for-all (launch what you brung, or just sit and watch). There are enough young folks (my three sons (all out of HS) and numerous nephews, neices and friends) to keep the show going for a good long while.

It rained again yesterday, and s'posed to do so again today, so there isn't any fire concerns, plus all fireworks are launched over my pond to further elimnate the problem.

Y'all have a good one...

From what I been hearing, (the price of scrap steel going up) you might want to dig those back up and take them to the metal recycler. The commode should stay to give the archeologist something to wonder about. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've actually been thinking about this in my usual devious way. I could really have some fun by welding together totally unrelated objects before burying them! Can you imagine digging up something like a commode with a ROPS? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

They might find one some day buried in Henro's yard! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm not sure whether it would have drilled holes in it or not... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Okay, Ganzer! If my fireworks get rained out I'm gonna blame you. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The day after you made that post, I noticed the radar and Denton was getting "blasted." I'll bet there were some creeks running pretty high there.

I hope your 4th goes well. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jinman,
I got just shy of an inch yesterday. We've gotten our share of rain the past week, but it hasn't been too bad. I was surprised that I could still drive on my pasture. You're blessed with the sandy soil, I have the black gumbo. I saw the overhead photo's of your place, looks great.

I hope the rain cooperates. Last year worked out perfect. We had a brief 15 minute shower at 8:45 and then it cleared up for the rest of the night. We have about $400 worth of fireworks to blast. We'll be at it for awhile.

We need to have a N. Texas TBN get together. Maybe in the fall, when things cool off.
