You are partially correct on both counts..... I am sick of having to defend my postings, and I am taking a vacation from posting. I just read another thread and it seems that Gatorboy is also experiencing what I have experienced. To quote him....."why is it so hard to understand the meaning of my posts?"...... I ask this same question. I try my best to be clear and concise in all my posts, but some people (not going to mention names, but they know who they are) would rather pick the information apart and take out of context wording to bolster their own self serving opinions. TBN should be a place to enjoy, and when the enjoyment is gone, so are the postings. I have a difficult enough time reading the posts due to a blurred vision problem, so I don't need the extra hassle that goes along with defending my words. I try to put as much meat and potatoes into a post as possible, and also inject some humor along with it. Some people would rather ruin the meal by pouring salt all over it, so no one can enjoy the Epicurean delight. I could never be that way and I can't tolerate it when others do poison a thread. I realize that we have grown from a small town community, to a large sprawling metropolitan area, but that is no reason to become vicious to your neighbors. I know that I am not the only one that feels this way, but I also know that many of the good members of this community are not going to stand up to have rotten eggs thrown at them. In too many instances, they are silent as a result. I encourage all members, old and new, to see what this type of detrimental postings does to the membership. Please help to stop this vicious cycle that has started from going any further. It is time that we go back to our roots..
MikePA....... you are correct.... I had stopped posting this past June, and it was for the same reason. I also know by communication with others, that there is a segment of the membership that has also stopped posting, and some have also stopped viewing as a result of the hostilities that have invaded some posts. If we are to retain the good members, we are also must encourage the respect that all members deserve. I might sit out a couple of innings, but some of the other players just throw down their bat and glove, to go home. I was recently in e mail contact with an old time member that is no longer even a visitor at TBN. I asked him why he no longer posts, and he wouldn't answer, but he did firmly say that he wouldn't return. From reading many of his past posts, I realize that we have lost a wealth of information from a person that was very good at sharing.... Getting new members is only one part of the equation..... keeping the originals is the other. Let us strive for harmony, rather than the dissension that will cause us harm.
