I have both those saws, plus the 455 Rancher, which replaced the 55. The 455 has a CR valve, which is
a huge benefit. Did you know that your 55 has a place for a CR valve? It is in the side of the cylinder,
and you need to tap it out and drill a small hole. The valve only costs $5. I just replaced the cyl on my
55, and I got the one with a CR valve already tapped into it. A big improvement.

yes, I know there is a boss that was cast into the head for a CR. Just wondering why they didn't finish the process. Replacing the head may be easier than tapping this one out. I would have no idea what size to drill and tap for the CR.
Until them, I will fight with the sorry wild thing, fight with this 55, or just carry the 372 with me.

Just got a 87 SE 268xp back in. I took it in trade 3-2011 and had a 272 aftermarket topend. Firewood cutter I sold it to can longer handle the weight with his bad back. So I bought a bunch of stuff off him last night.

7 years later here she is again

If it was a Stihl it would start right up. Can’t kill them.

I’ve got a piece of crap Stihl laying in my garage floor in a bunch of pieces because it wouldn’t run. I took it apart and haven’t had time to finish the project. If you actually believe any brand of anything never tears up that’s not an anvil than you’re wrong.

I have a broken anvil. Would that make you wrong? Maybe do not take things so literally just to pick a fight? Lots of good brands out there. Stihl, Husky, Johnnies, Dolmar, Echo, others. Many good choices.

Yeah, but some brands take a bigger bubba to break them. At my old job we had a saying.... you can build something idiot proof, but you can't build it "dock proof".... "dock proof" referred to the guys that worked on the loading dock, they broke everything.

When you build something idiot proof you are just asking for an idiot to prove you wrong. I'm waiting for the warning stickers for chainsaws saying not to grab the moving chain with your hand. I'm suprised that they don't have kill switches on the handles forcing you to keep both hands on them. I guess figuring out how to start the saw has kept it from happening.

HEY!!! DON'T even mention the kill switch on the handles of chainsaws!!!!! LOL!!!!--- Some IDIOT crackpot might get some stupid idea to push for a law!!! LOL!!!!! thanks; sonny580

That reminds me of two of my favorite quotes:

“Every day, man is making bigger and better fool-proof things, and every day, nature is making bigger and better fools. So far, I think nature is winning.” — Albert Einstein

"A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." — Douglas Adams
