NGK made in China and several 3rd world countries too. They try to hide it by not putting on the plug itself.
Only their Japan made ones is marked on plug.

One China and one Japan. How my batches were one time years back when ordered.


Only plugs over all the years to give me troubles is NGK. Why I swore them off many years ago and only used Bosch German made.

Had NGK be bad right out of the boxes missing like bad coil.

No they was not counterfeits like people oreder through amazon and ebay. I order from same place dealers order bulk plugs.

But now days does not matter. So I use them all. They all using China and where ever anymore.

Heck in twin riding mowers a set of NGK was missing at 75hrs. The Champions in other one had 400 hrs and never missed a beat. I went ahead and changed both since the NGK's were missing. I put Champion in the one again and NGK in the other.


If you notice the Autolite thin wire I put back in the G111 above on right. It was made in USA.
But they are now using Mexico on some of them.

Only thing with their plugs they little longer from cylinder out. So dont fit some ope that is close to covers under there.

I avoid Champion if all possible. I have had more Champions plugs fail in one day then I have had NGK fail in doing mower repairs for the past 26 years. Last year I ran into an issue with having a NGK on backorder and had to order Champion in its place, so I ordered 4 plugs and all 4 plugs failed to fire hot in a Kawasaki engine. Had to put the old plugs back in just to get it back to the customer.

Swore off of Champion years ago when I had to throw away an entire shop pack due to all 24 plugs failing the same day.

Bosch German was my best. But they are no more. I like the Autolite USA made thin wires even now.
Champion only if a motor they were in or a hard to get plug local in something else.

I did put both of the same back in to see if it happens again. Both doing great so far. But guessing only 100+ hrs so far.

But ngk has been going down hill for years IMHO.
I trust ngk less and less over the years and even the Japan made ones too. They were the ones bad right out of the boxes too.

So going to try some of these Denso plugs. Since great feedback from guys that used to be ngk only.

Another shop with another bad ngk in. One of the ones center electrode slides back forth. Seen a few of those posted recently. Least it didnt tear up a newer 572 like other guys did.


Finally broke down and bought Denso plugs for ope. Japan on box and Japan on plug.

Great looking plug.

Plenty of builders and porters have switched to them over the years. Have yet to see one fail like the others yet.

They say they put the location where their plugs are made right on plug if even a China plug.
Dont try to hide it like ngk does on their China and Thailand made plugs on boxes only. Ngk only marks plugs made in Japan on their plugs. Tries to hide the rest.

But they do use China too for some plugs. Straight from their website. All DENSO Spark Plugs are manufactured in Japan, Indonesia, China and USA.
Just so we know.
I guess big supplier for Toyota too.

Denso Ngk Bosch.

I didn’t even catch my last batch of ngk was Brazil made.
Wasn’t marked on plug like Japan ones so checked box.
That’s how they try to hide their China, Thailand, Brazil etc made plugs.

Like what I see with these Denso and talking with Kevin a porter finally got me to order some to try.

I bet I been putting off ordering some for 10 years or more.

Interestingly, I'm running the ORIGIONAL plug in my ancient 028 WB Stihl (like 40 years old) and I've never replaced it either. Just took it out and checked the gap and that is it. Could be because I only run canned fuel (Echo Red Armor 50-1). Not sure but for the bulk of the 028's life it was on Stihl bottled pre-mix and corn squeezed junk gas. Only for the last 3 years has it been on 50-1 Red Armor.

Starts on the second pull, no matter how long it's sits, btw. I have replaced the fuel and impulse lines and tank strainers with OEM Stihl parts however. I even winterize the 4 stroke power equipment with 50-1 Red Armor syn fuel.

good stuff. Not cheap however.

The TORCH plug(s) in my HF powered pressure washer as well as my repowered tiller (I replace the blown Honda with a Pred) both have the original Torch plugs as well and the pressure washer especially, gets used a lot as I'm always washing down farm equipment as well as the cars. I suspect the plug will outlast the PW pump. Have a spare PW pump on the shelf in anticipation.

Bet they dont get touched between visits by this local fire woodcutter.

Least I talked him into a better Tsumura bar for the 290. Over the cheap archer laminated bar and stihl E bar he been running over the years.

They used to be if you didnt know which one you were buying long time ago. 4 digit code was used to tell you which was which to stihl spec.

They only sell the stihl spec plug now.

Both in pic with same plug number. But when ordering they had a different 4 digit code. Stihl wanted solid tip like on left.

Also that one on left is a China made NGK
