I am looking at getting another chainsaw (20”). My current one is an Echo CS-345 with a 16” bar/chain from 2002. Has seen limited use over the years and still runs great. I have been using it a lot lately.

Anyway, saw a Huskee 455 at a special price of $399 at Lowe’s. Then there is the discontinued Echo CS-4910-20 and the updated CS-4920-20, both $380 at Home Depot. Next level up on the Echo’s is the well reviewed CS-590 at $450 at several retailers. It is at least 2 lbs heavier than the CS-4910/4920 models.

Would appreciate some feedback on the Huskee 455 from users. Though I am biased towards Echo products, I can be swayed. TIA.

The 4910 is basically the same saw as the 501p and it’s an excellent saw, more pro saw than home line. The 590 is also very good. Avoid the 4920 if ya can. The 4910 is in my top 3 best bang fir the $ in the echo lineup. They’re going away so get one while ya can.

455 plastic cased saw. 4920 heavier then 4910 it replaced and 4920 plastic cased saw. Pass.

4910 is just cheaper version of the 501. 4910 came with plastic handle and black covers. best bang for the buck in 50cc.

59cc 590 best bang for the buck.

4910 590 mag cased saws.

Just got to decide whats best for your uses.
I have slowly over the years went to smallest lightest saws to get the job done myself.

PHO dry weights before adding mix,bar oil and b+c.

I have a Husq 455 with 20" bar. I only use it for big(er) cutting. Runs just fine and I like it (FWIW).

Their fine and cut alot wood for folks, even locals. I work on them for them. Strato dang saws too.

But better saws out there for the money.

I wont suggest them for the money they cost.

Pic of one tore down in my repair group. Clamshell design with plastic case.

That's a good price.

I bought my Rancher 455 20y ago, new. It still runs great and has never been rebuilt. Even the primer bulb is original. It does not leak oil, and does not even need re-adjustment winter-to-summer. Both of my Shindaiwas need readjustment.

That said, it is kinda heavy, as XYZ shows. It has a plastic hoop handle, which will hold up if you don't drop it off your truck. I got it from an internet dealer with a 24" bar, which is bigger than you can pull, fully embedded. But I got it for reach, and it has served well. I use it often, which keeps it going. Very common and popular saw.

I don't get many Echos, but I hear good things about the 590, which I would love to try out. If you can get that at the Rancher 455 price, go for it.

Like in an earlier picture, I have a 262xp and a 346xpg. Both are great saws. I use the 346 the most since it's lighter, but for anything bigger than 10"-12", the 262 makes much quicker work of it. I also have a 385 for the really big stuff. Had to remove a 30" downed tree a couple of weeks ago and it beasted it's way right through it.
