OK Guys,
This is the finished product, well almost, still need flowers planted next month /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For all you astute observers, no, I coild not dig down 4ft in this soil, I got down about 32 " and ran into some serious hardpan /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif So just decided to go the easy route and let it stick up a little /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The flag looks great, needed some wind for this shot, and wouldnt you know that everytime I grabbed the camera the wind would die /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Nope, not always /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Kathleen and I watched a severe thunderstorm roll in from the west a couple summers ago, it came through the gap in the mountains, it actually looked like a tidal wave coming at us /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif When we started seeing lightning strikes at the bottom of our hill my wife high tailed it off the porch and inside /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Let me see - was it Vermonters who are supposed to be the most stubborn folks in the US, or those from Maine? I assume the alternative, which was to get another pole and a couple of sacks of Quickcrete, and put in your own (new) pole was out of the question, once faced with that challenge of hauling a million pounds of concrete for miles. Just couldn't pass up the challenge, could you?
My wife's from New England, and I face that kind of mindset with regularity.
