Wax is not a very sophisticated lube. Functional, but just wax and solvent carrier.

I am using Home Depots' HDX brand at present.

First post here. After years of wishing for a tractor to manage and clear the yard and woods (only 2 acres) I found and bought a 2013 BX25 TLB with the 3 point linkage and an aeriator thrown in, it has 320 hours. The PO didn't seem to mechanicly inclined and said he had it serviced at the dealer. If he did they ripped him off, it needs some TLC , I've ordered new filters, and a new plastic front midshroud to replace the cracked up one (Messicks had the shroud it here in 1 day). The only concerning problem I see is the implement lowering speed valve knob is seized, I've been spraying it with PB Blaster and trying to get it free but she's frozen, not a big concern now but eventually I'll tear into it if it doesn't free up. Anyway It runs nice and the purchase price was just over 10K, looking at other tractors like it I believe this to have been a pretty good deal. Of course I just had a back procedure done and have to wait a bit before I start working with it but it finally happened, I'm a tractor owner!

Go to a parts store ( I know NAPA has it ) and get a can of Freeze Off. That stuff is awesome. It even works on rusted exhaust bolts. I am sure it will work on the frozen knob.

After a few days of spraying and nudging I got the lowering speed valve knob freed up. Next I had to really push and pull to work the PTO clutch, I soon found out I was simply bending the lever, since the lever wasn't closing the safety switch any longer my wife and I pushed it into the garage where I removed the left rear wheel, PTO selector lever and PTO clutch lever. I cleaned all the mud out from around the clutch shaft and bathed it in PB BLASTER while tapping back and forth on the shaft plate, after about a day of this she finally broke free, I put the bent up clutch lever in a vise and with an adjustable wrench bent it back to the best I could eyeball it, I bolted the lever back on and lucked out, it was about as perfect as I could hope for! The tractor is all back together and the PTO clutch lever glides freely. I ordered Under Armour and a Piranha Tooth Bar from Bxpanded and some lights for the ROPS bar from Amazon. I've changed all the fluids and filters since it seems the PO of this tractor knew nothing about upkeep.
