</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Most of the ground that is put into the CRP program, Conservation Reserve Program, is just that. It's put into CRP to conserve the land. Waterways, watersheds, game preserves, erosion control, etc. Most of the land has to qualify as highly erodable ground. Take a trip down to your local Farm Service Agency and they have alot of information for a person to read if you really want to see how your tax dollars are spent. )</font>
Then either it's changed quite a bit since I lived on the farm in Ohio, or we're talking about 2 different programs. I was aware of the CRP program which was basically conservation/erosion/watershed related. There also was (is?) a program where we used to rotate a certain amount of land which would lay fallow each year (with a cover crop, usually hay). If I recall, it was related to corn, but I may be remembering wrong.
It's been a while since I knew much about any of this, and I was pretty young at the time, so didn't deal with it myself.
