you might like looking at some of these tractors pics from an old thread I was mentioning. These workers in VN really can make an old worn out tractor look new again

That's a great thread! Thanks. It really says it all. I miss all those old posters. Prunty talked about health problems then disappeared, Inspector 507 died recently per an obituary on a different tractor forum. A couple of those legitimate dealers in that thread got harassed so bad by Yanmar-USA that they quit importing Yanmars.

Here's a photo I posted in 2005, this post explains it. In summary I had to buy a real Yanmar fuel filter element and bowl to fit the Genuine Yanmar fuel filter assembly that I saw salvaged off a warranty-return recon, because the recon factory in VN had installed used God-knows-what parts in place of the bowl and element that should have been on there.

The local recon importer where I bought this filter assembly (maybe the West Coast site for that same VN-Tractor company in Texas) went out of business a decade ago, after they were buried with warranty return tractors. The family members running this local outlet were honest, but they were being shipped too many tractors that soon failed.

was the v2 not OEM? no doubt it was grey market import by one of these companies prior to the lawsuits, but what exactly is meant by"reconditioned". even though i see two different colors of grey, there is no overspray on anything which means it would have had to been taken completely apart and i would not think that to be cost effective.

My understanding is that Yanmar did not build their own loaders ever, but contracted those out (someone correct me if I am wring on that). I also understand that the loaders at least on the ym Yanmars carried a FYL xxx label.
Good luck with your tractor.

re loaders: for the US-model YM's the US dealer could install a 'Yanmar' branded loader made by a supplier in North America. I think these are the same loaders as on the Deeres that were built by Yanmar.

For Yanmar-Japan-version tractors, the recon importer I mentioned above had one take-off loader for sale alone, that had arrived on one of their FX (later model) recons. That loader had curved arms and as I recall, compound leverage so the bucket stayed level as the arms were raised. Everything about that loader looked well designed, elegant.

I did not realize inspector had passed. So many have gone since I became a member

I guess both were before my time on this forum, but my loss I am sure. I am also sure they were great resources of all things related to these tractors, which is a lost to all of us here.
Happy tractoring to both gentlemen.

That V2 loader is a solid indication that tractor has be "refurbished" by this company. They used to sell them as Yanmars, since the lawsuits by Yanmar they now sell them as YNM's. Welcome To Vntractor
I knew it wasn't a 35 hour grey market tractor "for real". What I believe more is the VN rebuild was bought. Run for 20 hours that first year , once out of warranty a catastraphic breakdown occured and it was parked under that tree for all these years.

That doesn't mean it can't be made to run good again. The reason why the VN chose those Yanmar tractors is the same as why all of us love them. They are simple machines, and way overbuilt. Easy to repair and parts are available. Get it going and your grandkids will be using it.

Totally agree. At their core, these ym yanmars are straight forward mechanical pieces of equipment. Extreme solid and will perform beyond what one would think a compact tractor is capable of.
As I have said in other comments, assume all maintenance is due—change all the fluids, filters, clean the hydraulic screen, fix the head gasket/head and any other issues you may find and it will be around for your great grandchildren to use!

my guess Buck at EFC (like many other dealers) got out of the yanmar business due to the lawsuit. I guess, leaving Fredricks as the only authorized Grey Yanmar dealer
