My thoughts would be, what does the 3.0 Duramax offer as advantages for its upcharge? It does have about 100 ft/lbs more torque, but from what I've seen, it's only available in pretty high trim models. Basically, making the 3.0DM require a $60k plus truck.

Do you need the extra 115 or so FT/lbs? They are both rated to tow the same. The 3.0 doesn't make it a 5/8 ton truck in capability
When I built my 2024 Yukon Denali the 3.0 Duramax option was $1,500 cheaper than the 6.2 gas engine. My wife's 2025 Tahoe has the 6.2 gas which is a nice motor. My Yukon averages 24 mpg combined, her Tahoe averages 16.5 mpg combined. My Yukon is my backup tow vehicle for my 2 smaller trailers. The other option is the 5.3 which was not an option I would consider.

In the Sierra 1500 the 3.0 is $2,110 cheaper than the 6.2.

Until a couple years ago, I'd never owned a vehicle with one either. I can take it or leave it. As others have noted, makes it a LOT easier to hook up to a trailer. For other backing, I'll use it in combination with mirrors.

Both of my vehicles are 2019's, and neither has a lot of intrusive electronic crap. I wish there was a way to turn off the various chimes (door open with key in ignition, seatbelts), and the auto-up/down on the power windows but neither of mine have much of the nanny crap that became standard in the 20s.
About the only things controlled via touchscreen are some of the radio functions and some setup stuff (that's set once and forget). Heater and tuning/volume on the radio are knobs.
The Ford dealer told me I couldn't turn off the seat belt alarm in my 2013 F150. It was driving me nuts when I was out in the field driving around. I found the instructions in the manual. Most sales people don't seem to know much about the vehicles they sell.

It has too many wheels though. A REAL man can get by with two... or one on a good day. :D
You need 3 wheels to help balance the big round hay bale strapped down in the back.

How's this for a basic truck. 3.7L I-5, 4wd, reg cab, short bed, steel wheels. Ex gov ir utility truck, at local auction. Im sure a buy here pay here guy will snag it up, and resell for $3000.down, and $150/week for 5 years. Got it in my "watchlist", and I could actually be talked into going to look at it prior to the bidding going live.

Or this one, 2002 F150, 4.6L, 2wd, extended cab, already set up for a grader man, with the tow bar to "dinggy" the truck behind the motor grader.
