I was raised to know my way around, read maps, etc... a regular Boy Scout. I used to laugh at people with a GPS for not knowing where they are at all times. And I'd whip out my atlas, look at some maps, plan my route, commit it to memory and off I'd go. Then one day, I had an epiphany... a GPS is a map box. With way more, better, and up-to-date maps than my atlas ever had. And when I get hungry, it'll find me a place to eat, or a place to return my beer rental, etc... I love my GPS. And refrigeration. And toilet paper. And sliced bread. And beer...
I was just like you when I was younger, and now I love my smart phone and all of its many many functions including the GPS and voice turn by turn navigation (you still have to occasionally perform a sanity check on the gal). Heck I even like a HST transmission on a tractor..
