I just bought a 1739E at a auction. What are these two symbols? Also can I get the manual somewhere?

I think one might be DEF? but what is the other?

Thanks
When you said bought at auction and it came on when you first started it my guess is that the DPF needs to be replaced and it is quite pricy. Hopefully that’s not the case

Regarding the symbols... One is that the front of the tractor is on fire and the other is that the tractor's cabin is on fire!

I _believe_ that one is for passive regeneration and one is for parked regeneration. Passive regens means you can keep working the tractor, with rpms at a minimum level (see operator manual). Parked regens means you stop the tractor, take out of gear and set brakes, and let the computer perform an extensive regen: it'll vary the rpms. My Kioti (now with 900 hrs) has had TWO parked regens; passive regens every 40 hrs or so. I suspect that this is pretty standard with any tractor that is using a DPF.

Also, stuff is programmed to essentially shut down if one fails to ensure a full and complete regen happens for X amount of attempts, if one has failed to heed the warnings. Requires software to reset; and then it's a matter of whether a forced regen (perhaps multiple) will unclog the DPF.

Lastly, beware that faulty/leaky injectors can result in overloading the DPF.

That's the sum total of what I know.

I think thclimer is right I have a Kubota 33 hp it has went to Regen once or twice due to low RPM. Regen mode runs the engine at high RPM to generate enough heat to clear the carbon build up. I have found using a tiller or bush hog running at the recommender PTO rpm clears it up in short order also.

It's not rpms that determine if a regen happens but that running low rpms a lot will result in the need for more frequent regens. Hopefully people know to make sure that when regens run that they ensure the then current rpms are kept up to above the required minimum (I think on my Kioti it's 1,800? I'm usually operating above that anyway).

Hi,

I have a 1734e that is having some DPF issues as well. I am trying to determine what the second indicator light (attached photo) means. It is not in the user manual.

I have had the tractor since 2017 (bought new). Two DPF filters were replaced under warranty. The tractor is now out of warranty and has less than 500 hours on it. Both prior failures in DPF regen were caused by the first in-line filter clogging with chunks of grass from brush-hogging.

When the current issue started showing signs I replaced the air filter and the filter under the seat (confirmed it was not clogged). The second indicator light (DPF crossed out) blinked out briefly and then came back on. Adjusting throttle up to 2000 RPM caused it to blink out and then come back on again as well. Adjusting to tach green zone had same effect.

I think that light means DPF regen is locked out by the ECU but I do not know. Does anyone know the meaning of that light and what causes it to trigger?

Thank you,

Top one is Tractor in RGEN, Bottom one means the DPF has reached the temp to run RGEN. When RGEN complete, the top will go away which means that the RGEN is complete, the bottom will go away when normal operating temp is reached, ie cooler. Normally, you will get them both at same time, sometimes you will get bottom until DPF has reached a more heated temp, then the RGEN light will come on. Should not affect the running of tractor and you can keep doing what you want. Just don't shut tractor down until regen complete. Sometimes, if there is water in fuel, you will get a light indicating that, rgen will stop until water gone. It will be becasue of extreme heat and then rgen will continue. This will add time to rgen cycle, however it won't hurt or stop you. when you are done, drain any excess water or add an additive that seperates water. I like HOWE's, at wmart, go figrue.

Thanks. I guess I'll just watch it and see if the system completes a regen.

Following up on things, that second light does not appear to be a "DPF in progress" indicator. I ran the tractor for about four hours today, mowing, holding 2500ish RPM for the duration and the tractor did not complete a DPF regen cycle. The light resembling a radiator with a slash through it appears to be a "DPF regen unavailable" indicator. The "DPF in progress" indicator came on for about 1 minute after I throttled up from being stopped to tighten the new belt on my mower.

Does anyone know how to do a manual regeneration on the economy series tractors? Mine does not have a regen button, or if it does have one, I do not know where it is hidden.

Thank you, I'm taking a look at the link. I had the DEF light on since I first turned it on, the other one came on way later, could it be because of the lack of DEF?
You have NO DEF on your tractor.

There is actually a video on YouTube from Massey showing exactly what to do in such a situation.

Following up.

If you get the two lights issue on a 1734e, there is a good chance your ECU has failed.

I took my machine into the dealer and had them diagnose things. I also spoke to a second dealer (before taking my tractor in), and ECU failures with this machine are something they have seen. The ECU is evidently prone to failing in a way where the DPF side is no longer functioning properly and generating a signal to the unused dash light (unused but plugged in) is one of the symptoms.

The tractor runs fine otherwise.

Does anyone have recommendations for businesses that can program a DPF delete for an ECU?
