Trailers are often weighed without a spare and ramps. Now add a tool box and winch and you can easily add 500#.

Going off the manufacturer listed weights for the trailer and cab.

I got the trailer for $3k, about $700 under MSRP. I could sell it pretty easily for what I paid for it. Looking around at a different dealer and they have a Reiser 10k GVWR 20' equipment trailer for $3,745.00

Don't know anything about that brand.

If you move up to a 10 K get the 16 inch rims . That way when the ST tires wear out you can upgrade to LT truck tires easily

Why put LT tires on a trailer? I understood trailer tires were made to handle side loads caused when turning very short while trailer is loaded.

Want some good reading ? search LT verse ST tires . Woodall rv forum has pages of pros and cons of LT Tires

Also search ST trailer tire failure and then LT tire failure .

When I stopped running ST tires , I stopped having tire problems .

It sounds like you need to sell the trailer and buy a 10k. Or 14k trailer to be safe.

Most ST tire "problems" are caused by neglect or misuse. Such as age, storage method, over loading, under inflation or over speed.

Who here has replaced all tires on a loaded tandem axle trailer after having a single tire failure? You should if the other tires have been over loaded based on their capacity and trailer load. Most people ignore the GVRW as witnessed by some the posts on THIS tread. (Or only conceder axle capacity.) That's a sure fire path to future tire problems. Damage caused by over loading is cumulative. Tires don't repair themselves after you remove the load.

Well I would average 2 years on my 7K tandem axle trailer , running local neighborhood roads , rarely did I break 50 MPH , carried a ztr mower and a walk behind . So I was way under weight , under speed , tires didnt heat up , and the ST tires kept throwing the tread off . but the truck pulling it never had a problem . So i switched to truck tires on the trailer . And my tire problems stopped .

At Hershey park last year , the 5 th wheel rv across from me blew a tire , a ST tire , sitting still not attached to the truck . He checked the other 3 , 1 was out of round .

From my experiences , I cant put a $ 30000 piece of equipment on some no name ST tire made in china

You're describing cheap Chinese tires not ST tires in general. I've had the same thing occur with the cheap tires I put on an Aerostar van once. I think they were LT tires. One tire blew a flap of tread from under the tire just sitting in the driveway. The others developed blisters on the sidewalls. I learned my lesson but I don't condemn all LT tires for that. Don't buy cheap tires. In the long run, they aren't cheap.

I tried good year marathons , carslile ,loadstar and others over the years . Experimenting with different brands gets expensive . I paid the extra money for the continental vanco LT tires and it has saved me money both in longevity and in down time and damages . Fenders are expensive also .

I have more capacity on my LT tires than the trailers are capable of carrying . My Travel trailer is 10K and I have 12K of tire capacity . My 7k car trailer had 9K of tire capacity , and my new 10K equip trailer has 14k of tires capacity on it . Plenty of reserve that I will never use , and the bonus is they are speed rated over 85 MPH . Where the ST tires were 65 MPH maximum . So I am not running tires at the top of their limits .

Who's dumb enough to haul a trailer and tractor going 85mph!
